US Patent:
6782418, Aug 24, 2004
Filed:
Jan 24, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/490142
Inventors:

Users who are providers of data utilize Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) enabled HyperText Transport Protocol (HTTP) to encrypt communications between their Web browser and the distributed computer application Web server (HTTPS). A Java servlet on the external HTTPS distributed computer application Web server handles the file upload from the Web browser and re-POSTs the data to a processing Java servlet on an internal HTTPS distributed computer application application server. The processing Java servlet on the internal HTTPS distributed computer application server is used to handle the file upload from the collection Java servlet on the external HTTPS distributed computer application Web server and saves the file locally in a database on the internal HTTPS distributed computer application application server.

Method And System For Event Phrase Identification

US Patent:
7058652, Jun 6, 2006
Filed:
Aug 15, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/218620
Inventors:
David Anthony Czarnecki - Clifton Park NY, US
Corey Nicholas Bufi - Troy NY, US
Melvin Kurt Simmons - Schenectady NY, US
Assignee:
General Electric Capital Corporation - Stamford CT
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707102, 704 9
Abstract:
The invention provides a system and method for identifying text in a word set. The method may include retrieving a target term set including a plurality of target terms; retrieving the word set including a plurality of text words; normalizing target terms in the target term set to generate normalized terms; normalizing text words in the word set to generate normalized words; comparing the normalized terms with the normalized words to determine (1) a first match between a first normalized term and a first normalized word; and (2) a second match between a second normalized term and a second normalized word. The method may further include determining a distance between a text word position of the first normalized word and a text word position of the second normalized word to determine if any relative positions satisfy threshold criteria, and identifying a first text word position and a second text word position as constituting possible identified text once a relative position of the text word position of the first normalized word and a text word position of the second normalized word satisfies the threshold criteria.

Method And System For Identifying And Matching Companies To Business Event Information

US Patent:
2004003, Feb 19, 2004
Filed:
Jan 6, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/336545
Inventors:
David Czarnecki - Clifton Park NY, US
Corey Bufi - Troy NY, US
Melvin Simmons - Schenectady NY, US
Richard Spackmann - Saratoga Springs NY, US
International Classification:
G06F007/00
US Classification:
707/007000
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system, method and computer program product for identifying and matching company names to business event information. A crawler crawls and downloads documents by starting from a pre-defined set of links. A parser breaks down the downloaded documents into components like text, titles and links. An evaluator evaluates the parsed documents and selects documents on the basis of amount of relevant information contained in the documents. An information extractor identifies the occurrences of company names in the text contained in the selected documents. It also identifies occurrences of business events, specified by a pre-defined set of event phrases, in the text contained in the selected documents. Further, the information extractor matches the identified company names to the identified business events in order to generate company-business event pairs.
