Assignee:
Koninklijke Philips Electronics N.V. - Eindhoven
International Classification:
G06F 13/14
US Classification:
710305, 710220
Abstract:
The invention relates to a bus system comprising a first station and a second station coupled by a bus for transferring data and control signals. The bus is conceived to operate according to a protocol in which the first station repeatedly sends requests to the second station. The first station comprises a processor, a bus interface, and a buffer coupled to said interruptible processor and said bus interface, the processor being operable to generate request properties for the requests to be sent by the first station. Furthermore, the processor is operable to handle said data items. The buffer is operable to store said request properties. The bus interface is operable to generate said requests from said stored request properties and to repeatedly send said requests.

Power Savings For Universal Serial Bus Devices

US Patent:
7904625, Mar 8, 2011
Filed:
Nov 12, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/269212
Inventors:
Yong Jiang - San Jose CA, US
Zhenyu Zhang - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Marvell International Ltd. - Hamilton
International Classification:
G06F 13/10
G06F 13/38
US Classification:
710110, 710100, 710104
Abstract:
An apparatus includes a Universal Serial Bus (USB) transceiver of a USB host controller, a first pull-down resistor, a first switch, a second pull-down resistor, a second switch, and a detachment module. The USB transceiver has a differential output. The first switch electrically couples the first pull-down resistor to a positive terminal of the differential output in response to a first switch control signal. The second switch electrically couples the second pull-down resistor to a negative terminal of the differential output in response to a second switch control signal. The detachment module selectively determines whether a USB device is electrically coupled to the differential output by checking a voltage at the differential output while at least one of the first switch control signal or the second switch control signal is asserted. The detachment module determines whether the USB device is electrically coupled to the differential output by checking the positive terminal when the USB transceiver is in a full-speed idle state and by checking the negative terminal when the USB transceiver is in a low-speed idle state.

Beacon Miss Prevention In Power Save Modes Using Timing Synchronization Function

US Patent:

Appl. No.:
12/060613
Inventors:
Kapil Chhabra - Sunnyvale CA, US
Sandesh Goel - Fremont CA, US
Zhenyu Zhang - Campbell CA, US
Assignee:
Marvell World Trade Ltd. - St. Michael
International Classification:

US Classification:
455574, 455 134, 455522, 4551275, 4553431, 4553435
Abstract:
A wireless network device includes a transceiver module, a beacon miss module, and a control module. The transceiver module is configured to transition the wireless network device from an inactive mode to an active mode at a wakeup time. The wakeup time is a predetermined time period before a time at which a delivery traffic indication message (DTIM) beacon is expected by the wireless network device. The beacon miss module is configured to count a number of DTIM beacons missed by the transceiver module during each of a first predetermined period and a second predetermined period. The first predetermined period is shorter than the second predetermined period. The control module is configured to selectively adjust the wakeup time during operation of the wireless network device based on the number of the DTIM beacons missed by the transceiver module during each of the first predetermined period and the second predetermined period.

Method And Apparatus For Maintaining A Wireless Local Area Network Connection During A Bluetooth Inquiry Phase Or A Bluetooth Paging Phase

US Patent:
8094597, Jan 10, 2012
Filed:
Oct 29, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/261009
Inventors:
Kapil Chhabra - Milpitas CA, US
Zhenyu Zhang - San Jose CA, US
Milind Kopikare - San Jose CA, US
Deepak Jain - San Ramon CA, US
Gladys Yuen Yan Wong - Fremont CA, US
Robert Mack - San Jose CA, US
Li-Fu Jeng - San Jose CA, US
Ronak Anjan Chokshi - Fremont CA, US
Assignee:
Marvell International Ltd. - Hamilton
International Classification:
G08C 17/00
US Classification:
370311
Abstract:
A beginning of a Bluetooth inquiry phase or a Bluetooth paging phase is determined. In response to determining that the Bluetooth inquiry phase or the Bluetooth paging phase is beginning, a power save (PS) mode signal is sent from a first device to a second device via a wireless local area network (WLAN) communication link, wherein the PS mode signal indicates that the first device is in a WLAN PS mode. A PS poll signal is sent from the first device to the second device via the WLAN communication link in a gap between Bluetooth inquiry phase message transmissions during the Bluetooth inquiry phase or between Bluetooth paging phase message transmissions during the Bluetooth paging phase.

Power Management In A Wireless Local Area Network

US Patent:
8127159, Feb 28, 2012
Filed:
Jul 22, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/177656
Inventors:
Kapil Chhabra - Sunnyvale CA, US
Zhenyu Zhang - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Marvell International Ltd. - Hamilton
International Classification:
G06F 1/00
G06F 1/26
G06F 1/32
G06F 15/16
H04B 7/00
US Classification:
713320, 713300, 713323, 709227, 709230, 370310
Abstract:
A power management scheme for use by subscriber equipment in wireless local area networks (WLAN) takes advantage to two different power management modes recognized by relevant standards. The addition of a media activity sensor and timer to a normal inactivity timer allows a WLAN to receive data in a first mode when activity is continuous and switch to a second, polling, mode when it appears that no more data is available. Using the combination of modes allows starting a download using a receive-only mode and switching to a polling mode when the media activity timer expires. The receive-only mode saves power over a continuous polling mode but changing to the polling mode at the end of a receive cycle saves power associated with the long inactivity timeout period of the continuous receive mode.
