Light Gun Having Selectable Modulated Infrared Output

US Patent:
4054290, Oct 18, 1977
Filed:
Jun 18, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/697323
Inventors:
Alvaro J. Villa - Northridge CA
Assignee:
Walt Disney Productions - Burbank CA
International Classification:
A63F 902
US Classification:
2731011
Abstract:
A light gun for use on moving vehicles produces continuous visible light for aiming purposes and selectable modulated infrared frequencies for actuating a target. The optical path through the gun is transparent to visible light while the infrared portion of the spectrum is modulated by a tuning fork chopper and selectively gated into the optical path by means of an infrared filter, the position of which is controlled by the trigger of the gun.

Three-Dimensional Animated Facial Control

US Patent:
4177589, Dec 11, 1979
Filed:
Oct 11, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/841002
Inventors:
Alvaro J. Villa - Northridge CA
Assignee:
Walt Disney Productions - Burbank CA
International Classification:
G09F 2700
US Classification:
40457
Abstract:
An artificially animated face with three-dimensional facial features formed of a flexible material is provided with remotely actuable concealed mechanisms for manipulating the jaw, rounding the mouth, and drawing the lower lip inward relative to the upper lip. The face is operated by an audio input either from a microphone or from an audio tape. The audio input is fed both through an audio amplification system to a speaker located proximate to the face, and also to an audio encoder which senses the major frequencies of the spoken sounds of the audio input and produces one or more digital signals in response thereto. If an "F" sound is detected, the lower lip of the figure is drawn inward to a slight degree, thus simulating human lip movement in sounding the consonant "F". If the decoder detects an "O" sound, the mouth is rounded in response thereto. If the decoder detects an "A" sound, the mouth is drawn into a line.

Optoelectronic Communications System

US Patent:
4150824, Apr 24, 1979
Filed:
Aug 27, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/718369
Inventors:
Alvaro J. Villa - Northridge CA
Assignee:
Walt Disney Productions - Burbank CA
International Classification:
F41G 700
US Classification:
2731011
Abstract:
An optoelectronic communications system in which the transmitter has controlled pulse train duration, pulse rate and pulse width, and a receiver which is sensitive to the pulse rate of the transmitter. The transmitter is incorporated into a firearm replica for a shooting gallery and the receiver is a target displaying a visible light source which is extinguished for a predetermined time period when energy from the transmitter strikes the target.

Optoelectronic Amusement Device

US Patent:
4257612, Mar 24, 1981
Filed:
Dec 13, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/968910
Inventors:

International Classification:
F41J 508
A63F 902
US Classification:
273310
Abstract:
An optoelectronic amusement device has a transmitter that emits pulses of a controlled pulse train duration, pulse rate and pulse width, and at a frequency of at least about 1800 hertz. A receiver is employed which is sensitive to the pulse rate and frequency of the transmitter. The transmitter is incorporated into a firearm replica for a shooting gallery and the receiver is a target displaying a visible light source which is extinguished for a predetermined time period when energy from the transmitter strikes the target.
