Abstract:
�. A mobile antenna system features passive repeater operation to transfer energy between a radio transceiver located inside a vehicle and an external radiator mounted on the outside thereof. By this arrangement, a user of the radio transceiver can gain benefit from the external radiator without the hinderance of a physical, wired connection linking the transceiver to the antenna assembly. In a preferred embodiment, the antenna system operates without any electrical cable extending inside the vehicle from the external radiator. !. Iadd. A mobile cellular antenna system includes an auxiliary antenna that is positioned inside the passenger compartment of a vehicle and is coupled to the radiator on the exterior of the vehicle. This arrangement permits users of portable or transportable cellular telephones with built-in antennas to gain transmission and reception advantage from the exterior antenna while operating from within the passenger compartment. .
