Inventors:
Seth Adam Cutler - Bridgeport CT, US
Arunkumar Govindarajalou - Secunderabad, IN
Peter James Greenwood - Cheshire CT, US
Geoffrey Hugh McKay - West Hartford CT, US
Gary Paul Michaelis - Oakville CT, US
Sachin Tulsidas Thakkar - Hyderabad, IN
Assignee:
GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
H02J 1/10
H01H 21/56
H01R 43/00
H01H 3/08
US Classification:
307 85, 200 17 R, 200 15, 29825
Abstract:
An apparatus for a photovoltaic system in which multiple poles are connectable with multiple fuses is provided. The apparatus includes a rotor configured to occupy at least first and second rotational angles, a disconnect unit including a plurality of interrupter housings respectively configured to connect at least one of the multiple poles with at least one of the multiple fuses in accordance with a rotational angle of the rotor, at least one of the plurality of the interrupter housings being mutually connectable, a transmission unit disposed and configured to electrically combine the multiple poles into a lesser number of the multiple poles, a housing sized to house the rotor, the disconnect unit and the transmission unit and an actuator arm disposed at the exterior of the housing and configured to be selectively actuated to cause the rotor to occupy the at least one of the rotational angles.

Molded Case Circuit Breaker Operating Mechanism Assembly

US Patent:
5070361, Dec 3, 1991
Filed:
Nov 30, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/620174
Inventors:
Gary D. Magnon - Bristol CT
Raymond K. Seymour - Plainville CT
David J. Lesslie - Plainville CT
Michael C. Guerrette - Plymouth CT
Geoffrey H. McKay - West Hartford CT
Assignee:
General Electric Company - NY
International Classification:
H01H 900
US Classification:
335172
Abstract:
An operating mechanism assembly used within molded case circuit breakers employing electronic trip units interconnects the operating mechanism with the circuit breaker movable contact arms by means of a slotted-cam arrangement. The slotted-cam optimizes the manual closing of the movable contact arms by controllably over-centering the circuit breaker operating mechanism springs.

Circuit Breaker Positive Trip Indication Spring

US Patent:
5015977, May 14, 1991
Filed:
Aug 2, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/561752
Inventors:
Geoffrey H. McKay - West Hartford CT
Andrew M. Candelora - East Haven CT
Michael C. Guerrette - Plymouth CT
Assignee:
General Electric Company - New York NY
International Classification:
H01H 7312
US Classification:
335 17
Abstract:
A positive trip indication spring is used with circuit breakers that provide colored trip indication through a visual access opening in the circuit breaker cover to ensure that the trip indicia on the circuit breaker operating handle align with the visual access opening upon the occurrence of a trip condition. The trip indication spring cooperates with the powerful circuit breaker operating mechanism springs to provide additional bias to the circuit breaker operating handle to move the operating handle to its fully "TRIPPED" position.

Molded Case Circuit Breaker Cover Insert

US Patent:
5027095, Jun 25, 1991
Filed:
Oct 29, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/604284
Inventors:
Geoffrey H. McKay - West Hartford CT
Harold F. Larkin - Plainville CT
Dennis J. Doughty - Plainville CT
Michael C. Guerrette - Plymouth CT
Assignee:
General Electric Company - New York NY
International Classification:
H01H 902
US Classification:
335202
Abstract:
A molded case circuit breaker of the type using electrodynamic repulsion to separate the circuit breaker contacts under intense overcurrent conditions also includes an arc chute arrangement for cooling and quenching the arc that occurs during such contact separation. A plastic cover insert added to the interior of the circuit breaker cover multi-functionally retains the arc chute within the circuit breaker case while providing clearance for the circuit breaker operating handle shutter. A resilient pad on the top surface of the cover insert receives the circuit breaker operating handle skirt upon contact separation and dampens the energy imparted to the operating handle and to the circuit breaker cover.
