Methods And Systems For Data Prioritization

US Patent:
2007025, Nov 1, 2007
Filed:
May 1, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/381066
Inventors:
Kim Gould - Seattle WA, US
Gregory Small - Federal Way WA, US
Steven Galipeau - Redmond WA, US
Carey Kirkland - Edgewood WA, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/173
US Classification:
709240000
Abstract:
Methods and systems for data prioritization are described. In one example embodiment, the method includes the steps of assigning data an urgency and importance, and prioritizing the data using the assigned urgency and importance. In one specific example, such prioritization is then used in communicating, e.g., dispatching, the data. For example, such urgency and importance are used in prioritizing data to be communicated between an onboard aircraft system and a ground based system.

Fast Settling Phase Lock Loop

US Patent:
4937536, Jun 26, 1990
Filed:
Aug 19, 1988
Appl. No.:
7/233798
Inventors:
Victor S. Reinhardt - Rancho Palos Verdes CA
George S. Des Brisay - Hemet CA
Kim V. Gould - Hermosa Beach CA
Assignee:
Hughes Aircraft Company - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
H03L 700
US Classification:
331 8
Abstract:
A phase lock loop frequency synthesizer for providing a synthesized frequency signal employing a modified adaptive loop construction having parallel feedback paths about a loop amplifier. A normal feedback path having a narrow bandwidth characteristic includes a feedback capacitor having one end connected to electrical ground via a controlled switch and a second feedback path having a wide bandwidth characteristic with a capacitor also connected across the amplifier. Upon the variation of an incoming reference signal, the controlled switch connects the normal feedback capacitor to ground permitting the wide bandwidth feedback path to rapidly settle the loop while charging the feedback capacitor of the normal feedback path. Upon opening the controlled switch, the narrow bandwidth feedback path completes the charging of the feedback capacitor of the normal feedback loop settling the loop to the steady state condition while enhancing the settling time.

Randomized Digital/Analog Converter Direct Digital Synthesizer

US Patent:
5014231, May 7, 1991
Filed:
Jul 17, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/380786
Inventors:
Victor S. Reinhardt - Rancho Palos Verdes CA
Kim V. Gould - Hermosa Beach CA
Kevin M. McNab - Redondo Beach CA
Assignee:
Hughes Aircraft Company - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
G06F 102
US Classification:
364718
Abstract:
A sine output or phase interpolation direct digital synthesizer for use in satellite programs having a random or pseudorandom code generator for summing a random digital word whose value ranges from zero to just under the least significant bit of a digital-to-analog converter with the current register value normally sent to the converter for reducing the spurious sidebands associated with the finite resolution of the converter within the synthesizer, the sum being truncated to the resolution of the converter and for controlling the converter, the spurious sidebands being reduced by randomization of the periodic behavior associated with the truncation process while lowering the total phase noise.
