Broadband Multi-Tap Antenna

US Patent:
8643566, Feb 4, 2014
Filed:
Jan 8, 2013
Appl. No.:
13/736425
Inventors:
Matthew Gregory Rivett - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
H01Q 1/00
H01Q 21/00
US Classification:
343905, 343893
Abstract:
An antenna system comprises a plurality of conductors, a combiner, and a plurality of loads. The combiner has an output port. The plurality of loads connects the plurality of conductors to each other in line. The plurality of loads has an impedance equal to a desired impedance for the output port. The combiner combines power received by the plurality of loads at the output port of the combiner.

Broadband Multi-Tap Antenna

US Patent:
2012024, Oct 4, 2012
Filed:
Aug 28, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/200259
Inventors:
Thomas Peter Delfeld - Newcastle WA, US
Matthew Gregory Rivett - Seattle WA, US
International Classification:
H01Q 1/50
H01Q 13/10
US Classification:
343767, 343853
Abstract:

High Gain Tightly Coupled Dipole Antenna Array

US Patent:
2022023, Jul 28, 2022
Filed:
Oct 6, 2021
Appl. No.:
17/495192
Inventors:
- Chicago IL, US
Matthew G. Rivett - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
H01Q 9/04
H01Q 19/10
Abstract:
An antenna system including an array of conductors connected to a feed line, wherein the array is configured to (1) emit electromagnetic radiation in response to an input signal being input to the array through the feed line or (2) output an output signal to the feed line in response to electromagnetic radiation being received on the array; and a director disposed in front of the array, wherein the director has a first reactive load having a complex impedance that is tailored to increase a directivity of the antenna system by reactively loading the conductors.

Dynamically Allocated Broadband Multi-Tap Antenna

US Patent:
2017031, Oct 26, 2017
Filed:
Apr 21, 2016
Appl. No.:
15/135002
Inventors:
- Chicago IL, US
Matthew G. Rivett - Seattle WA, US
Assignee:
The Boeing Company - Chicago IL
International Classification:
H01Q 5/50
H01Q 1/50
H01P 5/16
Abstract:
A dynamically allocated broadband multi-tap antenna comprises a plurality of sub-wavelength conductors used for transmitting and/or receiving radio frequency (RF) signals; a plurality of antenna taps, each of which is connected to one or more of the conductors; a plurality of RF switches, each of which is connected to one of the antenna taps; and a plurality of combiners (which also function as splitters), each of which is connected to one or more of the RF switches. The RF switches are controlled to dynamically allocate and interconnect the antenna taps with a selected combiner, to communicate the RF signals between the conductors connected to the antenna taps and the selected combiner. The RF signals received by the conductors are combined into an output signal at the selected combiner, while an input signal at the selected combiner is split for transmission as the RF signals by the conductors.

Surface Card Antenna Apparatus

US Patent:
2017011, Apr 20, 2017
Filed:
Oct 15, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/883733
Inventors:
- Chicago IL, US
Matthew G. Rivett - Seattle WA, US
International Classification:
H01Q 9/04
H01Q 1/38
Abstract:
A surface card antenna apparatus comprises a single circuit board having a major side surface. The surface card antenna apparatus further comprises a horizontal polarization antenna portion mounted on the major side surface of the single circuit board. The surface card antenna apparatus also comprises a vertical polarization antenna portion mounted on the major side surface of the single circuit board.
