Limited Eating Area Hardware Bowl System

US Patent:
8291831, Oct 23, 2012
Filed:
Jan 25, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/013562
Inventors:
Michael J. Spano - New York NY, US
International Classification:
A47B 85/00
US Classification:
108 25, 108 26, 206557
Abstract:
A feeding station system for organizing and preventing bowls and the like from being turned over or moved about as a person or an animal eats. The system includes a mat having an upper surface with planar fastening areas, where each planar fastening area is fitted with a hook or loop planar fastener. The system includes a vessel having a floor with a lower surface appropriately fitted with a layer of hook or loop fasteners which will fasten to complementary hook or loop fasteners on the mat. In the system a reversible bond between the mat and the vessel is attained when the vessel's layer of hook or loop fasteners is pressed against the mat's hook or loop planar fasteners, causing complementary fasteners to form a reversible bond. The reversible bond can be broken by peeling the vessel away from the mat.

System And Method For Locating Personal Items And The Like

US Patent:
2009004, Feb 19, 2009
Filed:
Oct 15, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/872299
Inventors:
MICHAEL J. SPANO - New York NY, US
International Classification:
G08B 13/14
US Classification:
3405722
Abstract:
The invention is a system for locating and preventing the loss of personal items within a geographic zone. The system components are a personal portable homing center device a having a radio frequency receiver and a transducer that is actuated by a change in a signal strength; and several zone devices, for instance an active RFID tag attached to the personal item. The homing center device has an algorithm to measure the strength of the signal generated by the tag. The transducer is an audible and/or a silent alarm. The homing center device has three operating modes: Off, Homing-in, and Homing-out. In the Homing-in mode the alarm is actuated when a zone device's signal is detected. In the Homing-out operating mode the alarm is actuated when a zone device's signal falls to a threshold strength, indicating that the item is no longer close to the homing center device.

Dilated Nasal Sleep Mask

US Patent:
2012016, Jun 28, 2012
Filed:
Dec 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/976600
Inventors:
MICHAEL J. SPANO - New York NY, US
International Classification:
A61M 16/06
US Classification:
12820219
Abstract:
The invention is an apparatus that blocks out light and improves breathing. The apparatus includes a sleep mask with an integral nasal dilation system. The nasal dilation system includes a nasal element mounted with on the nose section of the mask, where the nasal element in one version has a channel through which a band can move substantially orthogonal to the wearer's nose. Sidewalls center the band, and inward folded cuffs retain the band. The band encircles the wearer's head between the mask straps. It is threaded through the slideway and can slide therein equalizing side-to-side forces. The band is elastic and when stretched it generates an opposing force. Pressure is exerted on the nose by using the band in a stretched state. The extended band creates pressure on the slideway, which causes the nose section to press against the nostrils causing them to distend, which in turn dilates the nasal passages, and breathing is improved.

Universal Quick Connect Car-Seat Restraint System

US Patent:
2017034, Nov 30, 2017
Filed:
Dec 15, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/969334
Inventors:
MICHAEL J. SPANO - New York NY, US
International Classification:
B60N 2/28
A47D 15/00
B62B 7/14
B62B 9/10
Abstract:
The invention is a quick connect car-seat/stroller restraint system that includes a torso clothing element with a fastening means that is loosely holding a pair of adjustable sectional restraint elements made of a restraint strap, and having tensioning elements. One tensioning element is an opposing upper horizontal pair of connectors that pull the restraint strap toward a frontal centerline. A second tensioning element is a set of lap tensioning elements that connect to a lap twin slotted buckle. A third tensioning element is a plurality of quick connecting tensioning elements. Each of the pair of the adjustable sectional restraint elements has two end portions, and each end portion has a quick connecting, fastening element that can be fastened to a receiving tensioning g element in a car-seat/stroller. When connected the sectional restraint elements are slightly tensioned, limiting the movement of an individual wearing the torso clothing element.
