Interfacial Trap Layer To Improve Carrier Injection

US Patent:
6963081, Nov 8, 2005
Filed:
Sep 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/676969
Inventors:
Rahul Gupta - Santa Clara CA, US
Florian Pschenitzka - San Jose CA, US
Vi-En Choong - San Jose CA, US
Pierre-Marc Allemand - San Jose CA, US
Assignee:
Osram Otpo Semiconductors GmbH - Regensburg
International Classification:
H01L035/24
H01L051/00
H01L029/24
H01L029/167
H01L029/207
US Classification:
257 40, 257102, 257103, 257607
Abstract:
In an embodiment of the invention, an electronic device includes an interfacial layer with traps. This interfacial layer is between an electrode and an organic layer, and if the electrode was adjacent to the organic layer, the energy barrier between these two layers is such that the current through the organic layer is limited by charge injection into this layer rather than the transport properties of the organic layer. The traps are used to accumulate charges of one charge type (e. g. , either electrons or holes) within the interfacial layer. By accumulating charges, the bands of the interfacial layer are bent so that charges can tunnel from the electrode to the organic layer thus increasing the efficiency of the electronic device and allowing organic layers to be used within an electronic device that otherwise would be too inefficient for use in that device.

Optimal Bank Height For Inkjet Printing

US Classification:
438 21, 257 40
Abstract:
The height of the photo-resist layer “banks” which define pockets for inkjet printing or other patterned processes is optimized to provide a more uniform drying profile for substances which are to be deposited in those pockets and dried therein. Preferably, the height of the photo-resist layer is less than or equal to about three microns and more, preferably, about one micron.

US Classification:
313504, 313503, 313506, 313509, 445 24, 427 66
Abstract:
The shapes of the photo-resist layer “banks” which define pockets for inkjet printing or other patterned processes are optimized to provide a more uniform drying profile for substances which are to be deposited in those pockets and dried therein. Preferably, the shapes of the banks are “mushroom” shaped such that a portion of the photo-resist layer overhangs the exposed lower electrode layer.

Method And System For Network Security

US Patent:

Filed:
Jul 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/903391
Inventors:
Rajan Goyal - Sunnyvale CA, US
Virgil N. Mihailovici - San Jose CA, US
Rahul Gupta - Sunnyvale CA, US
Pere Monclus - San Jose CA, US
Ahsan Habib - Los Gatos CA, US
Kirtikumar L. Prabhu - San Jose CA, US
Christophe J. Paggen - Plainevaux, BE
Shyamasundar S. Kaluve - Bangalore, IN
Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
G06F 11/00
H04L 9/00
US Classification:
726 22, 726 11, 726 12, 713153, 713154
Abstract:
In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a method includes receiving a packet at a physical interface of a network security gateway. The packet is tagged with a first VLAN identifier associated with an external network. The method also includes communicating a copy of the packet to a first processor, analyzing the copy of the packet at the first processor to determine whether the packet violates a security condition, and communicating a reply message from the first processor to the interface. The reply message indicates whether the packet violates a security condition. If the packet does not violate a security condition, the method includes re-tagging the packet with a second VLAN identifier associated with a protected network by using a second processor at the physical interface. The method further includes communicating the re-tagged packet to the protected network if the packet does not violate a security condition.

Heterostructure Devices Using Cross-Linkable Polymers

US Patent:
7629061, Dec 8, 2009
Filed:
Mar 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/812568
Inventors:
Rahul Gupta - Milpitas CA, US
Andrew Ingle - Fremont CA, US
Assignee:
Osram Opto Semiconductors GmbH - Regensburg
International Classification:
H01L 51/54
US Classification:
428690, 428917, 313504, 313506
Abstract:
What is disclosed is an organic electronic device which has at least one hetero-structure of film layers. The layers can be cross-linked and stacked one upon another to add a plurality of different functions and optimizations to the device, particularly in organic light emitting diodes.

Capillary Coating Method

US Patent:
2005006, Mar 31, 2005
Filed:
Sep 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/674864
Inventors:
Rahul Gupta - Santa Clara CA, US
Joseph Carr - Los Gatos CA, US
International Classification:
B05D005/06
US Classification:
428411100, 427402000, 427430100, 427066000
Abstract:
Material is deposited on a substrate layer by forming a multilayered structure and dipping the multilayered structure into a solution containing the material for a sufficient length of time to allow the solution to spread through capillary action to a predetermined region. The multilayered structure is formed by coating the substrate layer with a spacer/pattern layer that defines the predetermined region and pressing a cover layer against the space/pattern layer.

Oled Emissive Polymer Layer

US Patent:
2005006, Mar 31, 2005
Filed:
Sep 30, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/676697
Inventors:
Rahul Gupta - Santa Clara CA, US
Florian Pschenitzka - San Jose CA, US
Franky So - San Jose CA, US
Pierre-Marc Allemand - San Jose CA, US
Vi-En Choong - San Jose CA, US
International Classification:
H05B033/14
C09K011/06
US Classification:
428690000, 428917000, 313504000, 313506000, 257088000, 257040000, 252301350
Abstract:
The position of the recombination zone can be controlled by controlling the mobility of the charge carriers. In an embodiment of the invention, the mobility of the charge carriers within the emissive polymer layer is controlled by the addition of traps—either electron traps, hole traps, or electron/hole traps. The electron traps reduce electron mobility, the hole traps reduce hole mobility, and the electron/hole traps reduce both electron mobility and hole mobility. The electron mobility and/or the hole mobility can be altered using the traps so that the recombination zone is positioned in the emissive polymer layer sufficiently far from the cathode so that quenching is minimized, and sufficiently far from the HTL/emissive polymer layer interface so that lifetime and/or efficiency is improved.

Deposition Of Conducting Polymers

US Patent:
2005015, Jul 14, 2005
Filed:
Jan 14, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/758478
Inventors:
Rahul Gupta - Milpitas CA, US
Andrew Ingle - Fremont CA, US
Sriram Natarajan - Burlingame CA, US
International Classification:
H01L035/24
H01L021/00
US Classification:
257040000, 438082000, 438099000
Abstract:
A precipitation agent is deposited on a lower electrode layer of an organic electronic device prior to fabrication of organic layers. After the precipitation agent is deposited, organic material is deposited over the precipitation agent. The precipitation agent induces a more uniform and flatter profile when the organic material is allowed to dry into a film on the treated surface.
