Manual Override Assembly For Pilot-Operated Valve

US Patent:
6902143, Jun 7, 2005
Filed:
Jul 18, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/622253
Inventors:
Robert Domke - Glastonbury CT, US
Kevin Wilson - Somers CT, US
Dwight H. Matthews - Lexington MS, US
Assignee:
Parker-Hannifin Corporation - Cleveland OH
International Classification:
F16K031/00
US Classification:
25112903, 251 14, 251 3002
Abstract:
In a pilot-operated valve having a valve body, including inlet and outlet portions controllably interconnected via a main piston bore portion; a main piston movable within the main piston bore; an operator portion; an operator assembly including a movable plunger assembly; and an actuating mechanism for actuating the plunger assembly, wherein the improvement comprises a further bore located within the valve body and a manually-operated override assembly retained therein, including a stem having a tool actuating portion; a cam portion extending radially into the operator bore portion and, upon a first predetermined rotation physically actuating the plunger assembly; and an actuating surface extending tangentially into the main piston bore portion which, upon a second rotation physically actuates the main piston. A method of actuating the manual override assembly is also set forth.

Insulation Displacement Connector For A Flat Multi-Conductor Cable

US Patent:
4171858, Oct 23, 1979
Filed:
Jun 1, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/911461
Inventors:
Robert G. Knowles - Litchfield CT
Robert A. Domke - Newtown CT
Assignee:
Litton Systems, Inc. - Oakville CT
International Classification:
H01R 1338
US Classification:
339 99R
Abstract:
A connector used in terminating a flat multi-conductor cable comprises a contact support and a pressure cap. The contact support houses a plurality of insulation displacement contacts, each contact comprising a boxlike end and an elongated electrical contacting section. Two opposite sides of the boxlike end include a longitudinal slot which receives the conductive elements of the cable to establish a four point contact therewith, and the remaining two sides are peaked to form a structure for piercing the insulation of the cable. The box is seamed along a longitudinal corner thereof and is reinforced by a recess in the contact support in which the box is located. The pressure cap comprises an array of apertures which correspond to the array of displacement contacts housed by the contact support. Each aperture is formed with a network of pressure members which cooperate to push the conductive elements of the multi-conductor cable into mating engagement with the slots of the displacement contacts, and to reinforce the boxlike ends.

Threaded Sleeve Assembly

US Patent:
5127624, Jul 7, 1992
Filed:
Apr 30, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/693752
Inventors:
Robert A. Domke - Glastonbury CT
Assignee:
Honeywell Inc. - Minneapolis MN
International Classification:
F16K 3106
US Classification:
25112915
Abstract:
An improved solenoid valve wherein the improvement is an improved sleeve assembly. The sleeve assembly is a tubular section having an enlarged first end integrally formed with the remainder of the tubular section and having a second end. The enlarged end is formed with external threads which mate with threads of a cup-like recess in the body of the solenoid valve. The tubular section is a nonmagnetic material which is screwed into the cup-like recess of the body. The enlarged first end further has a gasket seat for compressing a gasket between the cup-like recess of the body and the sleeve member. A stop of magnetic material is welded to the second end of the tubular section forming a seal. A flux plate comprising a magnetic material is located about the sleeve assembly between an electrical coil and the body.

Integral Low Profile Latch For A Flat Cable Connector

US Patent:
4169647, Oct 2, 1979
Filed:
Jun 1, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/911214
Inventors:
Robert G. Knowles - Litchfield CT
Robert A. Domke - Newtown CT
Assignee:
Litton Systems, Inc. - Oakville CT
International Classification:
H01R 1338
US Classification:
339 99R
Abstract:
A flat cable connector includes a contact support with an integrally molded latch and a pressure member which mates therewith. The latch comprises a folded beam and a latching bar which cooperate with a two-position catch on the pressure member. The folded beam gives the latch a greater flexibility than would normally be possible and avoids excess strain which could cause beam failure.
