About:
I've been "deejaying" for close to 15 years. Half of my life has been spent trying to find new sounds and hidden gems. Ever since the dawn of the internet allowing us to snag music offline the search ...

I play the guitar (10 years) and piano (16 years) as well. I've always thought of myself as the "background man" making sure that the sound and performance of a musician/DJ are at the most optimal levels whether in the studio or live! Producing has always been something I've dabbled in. Pro Tools, Reason, Fruity Loops, & Ableton Live have been used through out my travels in the production world and the one that I am coming to love and cherish would have to be Ableton Live. As far as the DJ side is concerned I am a strong believer in never forgetting your roots. But I have to admit that Traktor has been and probably will be a versatile tool in my performance allowing me to cross the boundaries of what is possible with what you hear as well as integrating with Ableton Live & simultaneously using both! I still think you should scratch... even if it has to be on a digital device.. .but for some reason i just can't let go of vinyl. =) call me old fashioned but i love seeing a good performance with vinyl. It's amazing to see how much has gone into a set with a DJ. The best is when you get to see a jaw dropping event on the fly... the DJ decides to take a detour from his original set and play from the heart. That man/woman knows their music... and at that point has transcended from a glorified jukebox to a musical hypnotist. Taking responsibility for peoples emotions with sound has always been a true way to heal a situation. Maybe not permanently. The dj may have been the reason that you had the most memorable night of your life and for that, I live to listen to music. I took a hiatus for a bit to return to a world full of technology and confusion of genres which in my opinion are getting mushy. I think it's also beautiful and annoying in the so called "DJ" realm. Everyone wants to be a DJ these days because they can be. With software linking songs together to eliminate beat matching you would think these kids would have more of a tasteful way to combine music together. In some respects you do get a new sound and combination that can blow the mind away all night. On the other hand you get monotonous & redundant shit that is thrown together by a labtop, a set of eyes and fingers attached to a less than mediocre DJ with no real musical taste other than what beat port has so eloquently provided for them. I love it when someone plays something i can't take credit for finding first. That's the mission; to explore new sounds and share them. Now it's turned into a contest to see kids redline ( a term used amongst DJ's in reference towards a Noob who doesn't watch the levels of the music preventing damage to a persons equipment, ears, and soul)
