Filed:
Mar 24, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/808047
Inventors:
Tony F. Habib - Lancaster OH, US
David L. Keller - Wadsworth OH, US
Steven R. Fortner - Lancaster OH, US
Assignee:
Diamond Power International, Inc. - Lancaster OH
International Classification:
B05B 1/20
US Classification:
239566, 239461, 239750, 239752, 239DIG 13, 122392, 153161
Abstract:
In accordance with the teachings of the present invention, a sootblower design incorporates a downstream nozzle positioned on a nozzle block body and an upstream nozzle positioned longitudinally from the position of the downstream nozzle farther from a distal end of the nozzle block than that of the downstream nozzle. The upstream nozzle has a geometry that is different than the geometry of the downstream nozzle. By having nozzles of different geometries, each nozzle can be individually optimized for the flow conditions each nozzle experiences.

Sootblower Isolation Wall Box

US Patent:
8573598, Nov 5, 2013
Filed:
Sep 17, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/561488
Inventors:
Stephen L. Shover - Millersport OH, US
Tony F. Habib - Lancaster OH, US
Dennis K. McDonald - Massillon OH, US
Assignee:
Diamond Power International, Inc. - Lancaster OH
International Classification:
F16L 17/02
US Classification:
277314, 122379, 122390
Abstract:
A sootblower isolation wall box provided for sealing the wall box opening of a large scale boiler to provide sootblower lance tube access to the boiler. The wall box assembly includes a clamping seal assembly having radial sealing segments which are individually actuated. Applying fluid pressure to actuating cylinders causes the seal segments to be clamped against the outer circumference of the sootblower lance tube. During cleaning cycles, the segments are actuated to provide a radial clearance with the lance tube. Preferably, the clamping seal assembly is used in connection with another seal assembly which is relied upon to provide sealing during the cleaning steps. In a preferred embodiment, the additional seal assembly is in the form of a labyrinth-type seal assembly.

Detonation / Deflagration Sootblower

Abstract:
A sootblower for cleaning a plurality of surfaces within an interior volume of a combustion device is provided. The sootblower includes a combustion assembly configured to generate a pressure wave and a delivery assembly having an outlet for delivering the pressure wave into the interior volume of the combustion device.

Sootblower Nozzle Assembly With An Improved Downstream Nozzle

US Patent:
2002012, Sep 5, 2002
Filed:
Jan 2, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/039430
Inventors:
Tony Habib - Lancaster OH, US
David Keller - Akron OH, US
International Classification:
B05B001/26
US Classification:
239/461000
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a new design of the nozzle and the lance tube of a sootblower to clean the interior of a heat exchanger by impingement of a jet of cleaning medium. In accordance with the teachings of the present invention the sootblower design developed, incorporates a nozzle at the tip of the distal end of the lance tube (downstream nozzle). The lance tube also includes an upstream nozzle positioned opposite and longitudinally apart the distal end nozzle. This design allows for the flow of the cleaning medium to enter into the inlet end of the nozzle without coming to a halt at the end of the lance tube. Further, the present invention also provides for a converging channel to be disposed in the interior of the lance tube to direct the flow of cleaning medium passing the upstream nozzle into the inlet end of the downstream nozzle with minimal hydraulic losses and flow maldistribution. The present invention also discloses an airfoil body to be placed around the upstream nozzle to minimize the flow disturbances caused by the bluff body of the converging channel.

Low Loss Poppet Valve For A Cleaning Device And A Method Of Delivering A Cleaning Fluid Therewith

US Patent:
2007004, Mar 1, 2007
Filed:
Aug 31, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/216591
Inventors:
Steven Fortner - Lancaster OH, US
Clinton Brown - Baltimore OH, US
James Hipple - Lancaster OH, US
Tony Habib - Lancaster OH, US
International Classification:
F16K 31/44
US Classification:
251245000
Abstract:
A poppet valve for use with a sootblower for removing debris from an interior volume of a boiler is provided. The poppet valve assembly includes a valve housing and a valve head configured to move within the valve housing between an open position and a closed position. The poppet valve assembly enables the cleaning fluid to undergo relatively small pressure loss as it flows through the poppet valve assembly when the valve head is in the open position. More specifically, the poppet valve assembly has a loss factor that is substantially less than currently-known valves. The poppet valve causes the cleaning fluid to undergo relatively small pressure loss while flowing therethrough.

Wear-Resistant Valve For Transporting Particulate Matter And Method Of Making

US Patent:
2011025, Oct 27, 2011
Filed:
Apr 27, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/768133
Inventors:
Austin Tyler Little - Chillicothe OH, US
Clint M. Sowers - Ashville OH, US
Tony F. Habib - Lancaster OH, US
Stephen J. Lukezich - Canal Winchester OH, US
International Classification:
F16K 3/30
B21D 51/16
F23J 1/00
F16K 47/00
F16K 25/00
US Classification:
110266, 251118, 251328, 251368, 29890127
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a valve for controlling the flow of abrasive particles along a predetermined path from the outlet of a hopper to a conveying line in a particle collection or transportation system. The design of the valve reduces the occurrence of erosive wear resulting from contact with the flow of abrasive particles. A method of making the valve that enhances the hardness of localized areas in the valve that are subject to high wear conditions is also disclosed.

Shaft-To-Roller Attachment For Clinker Grinder Roller

US Patent:

Perturbing Air Cooled Condenser Fin

US Patent:
2020033, Oct 22, 2020
Filed:
Apr 16, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/850673
Inventors:
- Akron OH, US
Tony F. HABIB - Lancaster OH, US
International Classification:
F28B 1/06
F28F 3/02
Abstract:
An air cooled condenser fin comprises flow channel walls defining an air flow channel. The flow channel walls include planar sections separated by intermittent flow interruptions which are spaced apart along the air flow channel. The intermittent flow interruptions are defined by the flow channel walls. The intermittent flow interruptions may for example comprise splits formed by a staggered arrangement in which the planar sections of the flow channel walls before and after each split are staggered; or intermittent sinusoidal waves formed into the flow channel walls; or louvers formed into the flow channel walls to create openings passing through the flow channel walls at the louvers. The intermittent flow interruptions may be spaced apart along the air flow channel by at least 5 hydraulic diameters, and in some embodiments by 5-10 hydraulic diameters. A plurality of such air cooled condenser fins are suitably employed with the air flow channels arranged in parallel.
