A lighting system component includes a transmissive substrate having a top and bottom surface and at least one elongate passage defined between the top and bottom surfaces by walls joining the top and bottom surfaces; and a coating on the walls substantially preventing light transmission through the walls; whereby light is transmitted through the lighting system component both through the substrate and through the elongate passage substantially without passing through the walls defining the elongate passage. Some variations are possible. For example, the coating may be opaque or reflective. Plural elongate passages may form a radial pattern relative to a point on one of the top and bottom surfaces. Plural elongate passages may form a concentric pattern relative to a point on one of the top and bottom surfaces. The walls may be angled parallel to a desired directed of light transmission. At least one of the walls may define at least part of a frustum of a cone.

A dual condition responsive switch is shown including first and second discs each having convex-concave surface configurations on opposite sides thereof adapted to invert its configuration upon being subjected to selected conditions. A motion transfer member extends from the second disc to an electric switch. At a first range of conditions the first disc prevents actuation of the switch, at a second range of conditions the curvature of the first disc has inverted allowing actuation of the switch while at a third range of conditions the curvature of the second disc has inverted resulting in deactuation of the switch.

A direct-connect trailer tow interconnector for connecting the electrical circuits of a tow vehicle with similar circuits of a trailer in which a one-piece shell socket accepts a standard trailer plug at one end and is compatible with the fitting of a tow vehicle harness at the other end. Pass-through conductors, each of which is made from a single metal blank, form terminals compatible with those of the trailer plug and also with those of the vehicle harness fitting. A cover is provided with a spring-loaded floating hinge to permit flat sealing protecting the interconnector from environmental hazards, and a flushing passage is formed through the cover to remove debris from the floating hinge.
