Method To Perform Mappings Across Multiple Models Or Ontologies

US Patent:
8370359, Feb 5, 2013
Filed:
Oct 21, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/909264
Inventors:
Brian Patrick Byrne - Austin TX, US
Songyun Duan - Hawthorne NY, US
Brendan O'Sullivan - Mulhuddart, IR
Kavitha Srinivas - Hawthorne NY, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 7/00
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707737, 707763
Abstract:
Computer-implemented methods for mapping an element of a source information model to an element of a target information model, forming a cluster of elements for mapping across information models, and evaluating a mapping of elements across information models, and a system and computer program product thereof. The method of mapping an element of a source information model to an element of a target information model includes: receiving information for mapping a first element in a source cluster to an element in the target information model; mapping the first element to the target element using the received information for mapping the first element to the target element; and mapping all other elements in the source cluster to the target element.

Information Integrity Rules Framework

US Patent:
8527446, Sep 3, 2013
Filed:
Nov 9, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/614525
Inventors:
Brian Patrick Byrne - Austin TX, US
Guenter Anton Sauter - Somers NY, US
Assignee:
International Business Machines Corporation - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06N 5/02
US Classification:
706 50
Abstract:
An information integrity rules framework manages rules across heterogeneous enforcement systems by managing canonical rules that are mapped to native rules and enforcement system-specific rules. The information integrity rules framework discovers an existing native rule utilized by an enforcement system, which is written in an enforcement system-specific format. Next, the information integrity rules framework creates a mapping entry and maps the native rule to a canonical rule, which is independent from the enforcement system. When the information integrity rules framework detects a change to one of the rules managed by the framework, the information integrity rules framework propagates the change to other corresponding rules across enforcement systems managed by the framework.

Information Landscape Modeling, Analysis & Validation

US Patent:
2011032, Dec 29, 2011
Filed:
Jun 28, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/825253
Inventors:
BRIAN P. BYRNE - AUSTIN TX, US
HAYDEN MARCHANT - RAMAT BET SHEMESEH, IL
GUENTER A. SAUTER - RIDGEFIELD CT, US
Assignee:
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION - Armonk NY
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
G06F 3/048
US Classification:
715853, 707803, 707E17044
Abstract:
Managing and validating a project using an information landscape. Embodiments include providing an information landscape including a topology of landscape elements for the project, linking the topology of landscape elements to a plurality of solution artifacts, and validating at least one of the plurality of solution artifacts and semantics of the information landscape.

Automatically Reviewing Information Mappings Across Different Information Models

US Patent:
2012003, Feb 9, 2012
Filed:
Aug 6, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/851963
Inventors:
Brian Patrick Byrne - Austin TX, US
Aditya Anand Kalyanpur - Westwood NJ, US

Assignee:
IBM Corporation - Yorktown Heights NY
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707687, 707E17005
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method, system, and program product for automatically reviewing a mapping between information models. The method includes: receiving a mapping between an element in the first information model to an element in the second information model. Each element is associated with an element identifier and an element value, and the mapping signifies a relationship between the element in the first information model and the element in the second information model. The method further includes comparing the received mapping against one or more known indications of suspicious mappings to determine if the received mapping resembles one of the indications of suspicious mappings. If the received mapping is determined to be suspicious, identifying the received mapping as one that requires review.

Generating A Semantic Graph Relating Information Assets Using Feedback Re-Enforced Search And Navigation

US Patent:
2012022, Aug 30, 2012
Filed:
Feb 28, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/036799
Inventors:
BRIAN P. BYRNE - AUSTIN TX, US
MARTIN A. OBERHOFER - BONDORF, DE
SUSHAIN PANDIT - AUSTIN TX, US
CHARLES D. WOLFSON - AUSTIN TX, US
Assignee:
INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORPORATION - ARMONK NY
International Classification:
G06F 17/30
US Classification:
707723, 707722, 707E17014
Abstract:
Embodiments of the invention provide an approach for creating, evolving and using a weighted semantic graph to manage and potentially identify certain information assets within an enterprise. The semantic graph may be generated by monitoring users navigating through search results which provide a set of information assets responsive to a search query. By recording the navigation path taken by many users, relationships between information assets may be identified. Further, once generated, the semantic graph may be used to present users with in indication of related information assets as part of the search results. Further still, the semantic graph may also be used to identify information assert “hubs” as well as information assets that may provide low utility to individuals within the enterprise.
