Self-Cleaning Fluid Delivery System

US Patent:
2006008, Apr 27, 2006
Filed:
Oct 26, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/259298
Inventors:
Bruce Byers - Howell MI, US
Robert Christian - Clinton Township MI, US
International Classification:
B05B 1/28
B05B 15/02
F23D 11/34
US Classification:
239104000, 239106000, 239119000
Abstract:
A paint delivery system includes a self-cleaning filter. The system has a paint delivery device which is in fluid communication with a paint supply via a delivery line so as to be operable to selectively dispense a fluid therefrom. The system includes a purge line which may be selectively placed in fluid communication with a delivery line at a point downstream of the paint supply and upstream of the delivery device by the activation of a purge valve so that when the purge valve is activated the purge line diverts the fluid passing through the delivery line from passing through the delivery device so that the fluid passes through the purge line. The system includes a filter and a filter retainer which supports the filter. The retainer is disposed in the delivery line downstream of the paint supply and upstream of the delivery device and purge valve. The retainer is operable to displace the filter relative to the delivery line from a first, filtering position, wherein the filter traps particulate matter in paint, to a second, backwash position wherein a flow of fluid through the delivery line will clean the filter. Also disclosed are other applications for the filter system as well as methods for its use.

Non-Aerating Agitation System

US Patent:
2006013, Jun 22, 2006
Filed:
Dec 20, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/312011
Inventors:
Bruce Byers - Brighton MI, US
International Classification:
B01F 7/26
US Classification:
366289000, 366316000
Abstract:
A non-aerating agitator system for mixing fluids within an interior volume defining vessel. An agitator plate is supported in inwardly extending and reciprocating fashion within the vessel interior and includes a pair of openings defined therethrough. A pair of displaceable valves selectively overlap and are displaced from the plate defined openings, in order to establish one-way fluid valves and which are operable to allow fluid to pass through the associated openings in a first linearly deflecting direction, while being sealed shut to prevent fluid passage therethrough in a second direction opposite the first direction. A reciprocating drive, such as a pneumatically operated motor, linearly translates the plate in each of first and second directions.

Fluid Delivery System And Method

US Patent:
2009001, Jan 15, 2009
Filed:
Jul 2, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/166385
Inventors:
Bruce E. Byers - Howell MI, US
International Classification:
B67D 5/54
US Classification:
222 61
Abstract:
A fluid delivery system is operative to deliver a high viscosity and/or a highly abrasive fluid at a preselected pressure. The system does not incorporate any pressure regulator disposed in contact with the pressurized fluid. The system includes a fluid supply which retains and dispenses a fluid, a source of compressed gas, a fluid delivery line, and a ratio pump which is in fluid communication with the fluid supply, the source of compressed gas and the fluid delivery line. The ratio pump is operable, when energized by a compressed gas, to pump fluid from the fluid supply through the fluid delivery line at a high pressure which is proportional to the pressure of the compressed gas supplied to the pump. The system includes a pressure transducer disposed so as to sense the pressure of the fluid in the fluid delivery line and supply a control signal corresponding to that measured pressure. The control signal is supplied to a load controller which in turn regulates the source of compressed gas in response to the measured pressure in the fluid delivery line so that the pressure of the compressed gas delivered from the source is proportional to the pressure of the fluid in the fluid delivery line. In this manner, a feedback loop is established which maintains the pressure of the fluid in the fluid delivery line at a preselected level. Also disclosed are methods for the use of the system.
