Fan Blade Compliant Layer And Seal

US Patent:
6398499, Jun 4, 2002
Filed:
Mar 19, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/813626
Inventors:
Joseph Simonetti - Duluth GA
Bruce Wilson - Chandler AZ
Assignee:
Honeywell International, Inc. - Morristown NJ
International Classification:
F01D 522
US Classification:
416193A, 416248
Abstract:
A compliant shim for use between the root of a gas turbine fan blade and a dovetail groove in a gas turbine rotor disk to reduce fretting therebetween. The compliant shim has first and second slots for engaging tabs extending from the fan blade root. The slots and tabs cooperate to hold the shim during engine operation. An oxidation layer covers the compliant shim. The shim is augmented with an upstanding wall and a seal element to seal the gap that exists between platform edges of adjacent fan blades. This simple combination solves two complex problems, fatigue of fan assembly parts and loss of operating efficiency caused by fluid flow leakage.

Apparatus And Method For Locating Coronary Sinus

US Patent:
6697667, Feb 24, 2004
Filed:
May 31, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/872248
Inventors:
Jeong S. Lee - Diamond Bar CA
Bruce Wilson - Temecula CA
Deborah Kilpatrick - Mountain View CA
Robert Ainsworth - Scotts Valley CA
Bridget A. Hurley - Mountain View CA
Jeffrey T. Ellis - Mountain View CA
Assignee:
Advanced Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
A61B 502
US Classification:
600479, 600585, 604523, 356336, 385119
Abstract:
An intravascular device for locating a coronary sinus of a patients heart and method of using the same. In one embodiment, the intravascular device includes an elongated member having at least one lumen and at least one optical fiber coupled to the elongated member. The optical fiber has a distal end configured to contact with a blood flow within the patients heart and a proximal end coupled to a laser Doppler velocimetry system for performing a plurality of laser Doppler velocity measurements of the blood flow within the heart to locate the coronary sinus of the heart. Incorporating LDV technology into an intravascular device such as a catheter or a guidewire system provides diagnostic information of the physiologic environment of the lesion before, during, or after a therapeutic procedure.

Stiff Guiding Catheter Liner Material

US Patent:
2004008, May 6, 2004
Filed:
Sep 18, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/246295
Inventors:
Jeong Lee - Diamond Bar CA, US
Bruce Wilson - Temecula CA, US
International Classification:
F16L001/00
US Classification:
604/532000
Abstract:
A guiding catheter for use in a body lumen having a stiff inner liner that has an uninterrupted length and is fabricated from a material such as polyimide (PI) and polyetheretherketone (PEEK) is disclosed. The inner liner is created by coating or extruding PI or PEEK on a neckable wire mandrel. A polymeric jacket is provided over the inner liner through a coating and bonding processes. A metallic braid, mesh, or lattice reinforcing member is embedded in the polymeric jacket.

Method Of Gaging A Pipe At Multiple Locations

US Patent:
4580348, Apr 8, 1986
Filed:
Mar 12, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/588325
Inventors:
William L. De Boynton - Arcadia CA
Frederick C. Lee - South Pasadena CA
Bruce E. Wilson - Chino CA
John F. O'Rourke - Hacienda Height CA
Assignee:
Hydril Company - Los Angeles CA
International Classification:
G01B 516
US Classification:
33199R
Abstract:
A workpiece gaging system includes carriage structure for a gaging part, movable longitudinally and laterally, and a rotor to rotate that structure; also indicator means is operatively connected with the part to indicate the status of engagement, displacement, or need for displacement, of the gaging part relative to a surface or surfaces (such as pipe threads) to be gaged, as at multiple locations. Measurement encoding and signal processing means are also provided.

Automatic Wire Puller

US Patent:
4917362, Apr 17, 1990
Filed:
Mar 9, 1989
Appl. No.:
7/320972
Inventors:
Bruce Wilson - Pasadena CA
International Classification:
B65H 5728
US Classification:
2541393FT
Abstract:
The automatic wire puller of the present invention provides an apparatus allowing one electrician to pull wire through conduit sections. The wire puller employs standard fish tape reels, is directly mountable to an electric outlet box and provides a reversible drive motor for playout or take up of the fish tape. A releasable catch maintains the handle of the standard plastic fish tape reel in a stationary position during rotation of the reel holder. The invention includes a first torque sensor to disable the drive motor should the fish tape become snagged during take up and a second torque sensor to deactivate the motor if the fish tape becomes snagged during playout thereby preventing damage to the fish tape, the wire being pulled, or the conduit which could occur if continued force was applied to the snagged fish tape. A completion sensor releases the handle of the fish tape reel when take up is complete and a shut off sensor then disengages the motor drive. Local and remote control of the invention is provided to allow the electrician to operate from either end of the conduit through which the cable is being pulled to monitor and guide the pulling operation as required.
