Abstract:
A double annular combustor having concentrically disposed inner and outer annular combustors is provided with inner and outer dome plates. Each dome plate has an inner portion and an outer portion. A cowl structure having an inner portion, an outer portion and a middle portion is also provided. The cowl outer portion is connected to the outer dome plate outer portion, the cowl inner portion is connected to the inner dome plate inner portion, and the cowl middle portion is connected to the outer dome plate inner portion and the inner dome plate outer portion. at an outer end, an inner end, and a middle portion. Additionally, the inner and outer annular combustors may lie in distinct radial planes, whereby the dome plate of the downstream annular combustor includes a section extending upstream to the cowl middle portion.

A carburetor for the combustor of a gas turbine engine wherein a swirler and a venturi cooperate to atomize and mix air and fuel for the combustor, wherein a downstream mounted integrally formed sleeve and splash plate is provided to control the flow of the air/fuel mixture into the combustor. The integral splash plate and sleeve has protuberances formed on its upstream surface to increase the area impinged by cooling air and thereby enhance cooling of the splash plate flange thereof.

A control system includes one or more processors configured to determine when to extend a life span of an engine by applying an additional restorative coating to the engine based on one or more monitored parameters of the engine. The monitored parameters include a condition of a previously applied restorative coating. A reactive phase spray formulation coating is configured to be disposed on the thermal barrier coating of an article. The reactive phase spray formulation coating comprises a base material and a binder material. The base material has a compliance that is higher than a compliance of the binder material, the binder material has a cohesive strength that is greater than a cohesive strength of the base material, the binder material has an adhesive strength that is greater than an adhesive strength of the base material, and the binder material has a surface area of at least ten square-meters per gram that is greater than a surface area of the base material. The binder material is configured to improve a cohesive strength level, an adhesive strength level, and a compliance of the formulation coating of the thermal barrier coating relative to the formulation coating not including the binder material.
