As part of my Six Sigma Green Belt certification, I needed to lead a project that could prove a significant amount of cost savings or revenue for the company. My project involved the Intelligence and Information Systems business, which was not meeting sales goals, that are attained through the placement of software engineers on Raytheon programs as subcontractors to other National Security Agency primes. By using Raytheon Six Sigma process improvement tools, the team increased the number of very difficult to fill new hires in 2010 from 1 in May to 49 by December. The result was an increase in sales to $4.7 million and a Human Resources process mapping methodology best practice.
