Ph Reduction System And Method For Concrete Plant Discharge

US Patent:
6841078, Jan 11, 2005
Filed:
Jan 3, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/033889
Inventors:
Carter Benson McCamy - Adamstown MD, US
Assignee:
Environmental Quality Resources, L.L.C. - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
C02F 100
US Classification:
210743, 210749, 210143, 2101981, 210205
Abstract:
A water treatment system and method reduces the pH level of a waste stream from an unacceptably high level with maximum efficiency and safety, and minimum costs and labor. The system includes a pH control system that detects a pH level of the waste stream. An acid discharge unit including a source of acid and an acid feeding mechanism is activated and deactivated by the pH control system according to the pH level of the waste stream. A housing contains the acid discharge unit and at least part of the pH control system. The acid feeding mechanism may feed dry acid directly to the waste stream or premix the dry acid with water to form a wet acidic solution that is fed into the waste stream. A mixing tank may be provided downstream of the housing to serve as an area for mixing acidic materials from the acid discharge unit with the waste stream prior to discharge from the plant.

Biodegradable Tree Shelter

US Patent:
2003020, Nov 13, 2003
Filed:
May 9, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/434115
Inventors:
Carter McCamy - Adamstown MD, US
International Classification:
A01G013/02
US Classification:
047/023200
Abstract:
A tree shelter includes two semi-cylindrical cages having complementary coupling devices that secure the cages to each other into a cylindrical configuration. The cages are formed of a biodegradable material. Additives may be included in the material for added functionality, including a bittering agent, a deer repellant and/or a fertilizer. The tree shelter also may include a bird guard that prevents birds from entering the shelter. The shelter is easily and inexpensively manufactured and is easy to install in the field.

Coir Wick Log And Method

US Patent:
2004022, Nov 18, 2004
Filed:
May 11, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/842425
Inventors:
Carter McCamy - Adamstown MD, US
Assignee:
Environmental Quality Resources, L.L.C. - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
E02B003/12
E02D017/20
US Classification:
405/302700, 405/016000, 405/021000, 405/302600
Abstract:
A biodegradable log includes a strip of absorbent material embedded therein and at least one wick extending from the strip outside of the log. The wick draws moisture into the biodegradable log in order to maintain an aqueous environment for embedded vegetation. Holes may be provided at least partially through the log diameter and along the log length to facilitate log placement and installation.

Biodegradable Mat With Additives And Method

US Patent:
2004023, Dec 2, 2004
Filed:
May 11, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/842426
Inventors:
Carter McCamy - Adamstown MD, US
Assignee:
Environmental Quality Resources, L.L.C. - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
A01G007/00
US Classification:
047/009000
Abstract:
A biodegradable mat promotes growth and health of vegetation. The mat includes a plurality of biodegradable fibers weaved into a mat sized and shaped for placement adjacent vegetation. At least one of a fertilizer and an herbicide are broadcast spread on the mat. A bittering agent is adhered to the mat, which also serves to adhere the fertilizer and/or herbicide to the mat. The resulting construction retains moisture, releases fertilizer, blocks soils from weed seeds, kills emergent weeds below the mat, and resists foraging by deer and rodents. The mat is easy to transport and handle, and installation requires considerably less labor than conventional mulch.

Tree Shelter

US Patent:
2005017, Aug 11, 2005
Filed:
Jan 3, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/027688
Inventors:
Carter McCamy - Adamstown MD, US
Assignee:
Environmental Quality Resources, L.L.C. - Gaithersburg MD
International Classification:
A01G013/02
US Classification:
047032400
Abstract:
A tree shelter includes a plurality of wooden stakes and a biodegradable yarn securing the wooden stakes in a side-by-side arrangement. The tree shelter is sized to encircle a tree to protect the tree from foraging animals.

Method Of Filtering Pollutants From Storm Water

US Patent:
5264134, Nov 23, 1993
Filed:
Mar 10, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/848204
Inventors:
Carter McCamy - Adamstown MD
Assignee:
Environmental Quality Resources, Inc. - Silver Spring MD
International Classification:
C02F 128
US Classification:
210679
Abstract:
A method is provided of removing hydrocarbon pollutants from a surface of a body of water in a storm water filtration system containing an oil separation chamber including a removable top cover to provide access to the chamber for removing oil, a side wall with a storm water inlet, another side wall with a filtered storm water outlet in a region of the chamber lower than the inlet and an overflow storm water outlet located above the filtered storm water outlet. A porous container having an interior filled with oleophilic and substantially buoyant material is located upon the surface of the water in the oil separation chamber so that oil floating on the surface of the storm water in the chamber is adsorbed by the oleophilic and substantially buoyant material. The porous container is tethered to a mount fixed to a wall of the chamber so that the porous container is prevented from clogging and passing through the overflow outlet and so that the porous container can be removed from the oil separation chamber after a period of use.

Remote Stormwater Management Pond Volume Adjustment System
