Non-Magnetic Azimuth Sensing With Met Electrochemical Sensors

US Patent:
2012017, Jul 12, 2012
Filed:
Aug 6, 2010
Appl. No.:
13/388789
Inventors:
Vadim M. Agafonov - Moscow Region, RU
Ivan Egorov - Moscow Region, RU
Catherine Rice - Scotch Plains NJ, US
Assignee:
MET TECH INC. - Jersey City NJ
International Classification:
G01C 19/12
US Classification:
74 5 R
Abstract:
This invention provides a new category of inertial sensors (linear and angular accelerometers, gyroscopes, inclinometers and seismometers) called Molecular Electronic Transducers (MET). Unlike other inertial sensors, MET sensors use a liquid electrolyte as their inertial mass. The sensors do not contain any precision mechanical parts or springs, and are relatively simple and inexpensive to manufacture.

Electrochromic Device

US Patent:
4340278, Jul 20, 1982
Filed:
May 19, 1980
Appl. No.:
6/151443
Inventors:
Gerardo Beni - Westfield NJ
Catherine E. Rice - Middletown NJ
Joseph L. Shay - Holmdel NJ
Assignee:
Bell Telephone Laboratories, Incorporated - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
G02F 117
US Classification:
350357
Abstract:
Electrochromic devices based on anion transfer have been made. These devices utilize an iridium oxide electrochromic electrode in conjunction with an electrolyte that provides a source of anions with formula weight in the range 18 to 33.

Method Of Producing A Layer Of Superconductive Oxide

US Patent:
5416063, May 16, 1995
Filed:
Nov 30, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/126448
Inventors:
Michal E. Gross - Summit NJ
Catherine E. Rice - Scotch Plains NJ
Assignee:
AT&T Corp. - Murray Hill NJ
International Classification:
B05D 302
B05D 512
US Classification:
505470
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for forming a superconductive oxide layer on a substrate. The method comprises applying a precursor solution to a major surface of the substrate such that a metal-containing layer is formed on the surface, and heat treating the substrate/layer combination such that at least a substantial portion of the layer material is transformed into superconductive oxide. Exemplarily, the precursor solution is formed by dissolving Ba--, Y--, and Cu-containing compounds in acetic acid and water, spinning the solution on a MgO substrate, driving of unwanted constituents of the resulting layer at 400. degree. C. , heating the combination to about 830. degree. C. in O. sub. 2 such that the (perovskite) phase that is associated with superconductivity in YBa. sub. 2 Cu. sub. 3 O. sub. 7 is formed, and oxygenating the layer at about 400. degree. C. in O. sub. 2.
