About:
Many of my clients know that I moved to Charlottesville just 12 years ago from the Bay Area. I searched for a place to raise my children in a area that has the values of a small town and the excitement of a big city. In a nutshell, I was searching for the quality of life we all deserve. After extensive research I found Charlottesville. If you are looking to move and are considering Charlottesville, please give me a call. I would love to share with you the wonderful experience I have had in finding Charlottesville and the various reasons that I decided to live in Charlottesville over all other choices from coast to coast!

Method For Emulsifying Asphalt-Rubber Paving Material And A Stable Thixotropic Emulsion Of Said Material

US Patent:
4018730, Apr 19, 1977
Filed:
Jun 6, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/584478
Inventors:
Charles H. McDonald - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
C08L 100
C08L 9500
C09D 324
US Classification:
260 174R
Abstract:
A new method is provided for emulsifing a asphaltrubber pavement repair material into a stable thixotropic emulsion capable of flowing as a liquid upon gentle agitation. The method generally comprises the steps of heating asphalt and rubber to form a jellied reaction product, and admixing a asphalt-rubber soap consisting essentially of water, an anionic water soluble emulsifying agent, a thickner, and the halide of an alkali metal or an alkaline earth metal to form a thixotropic emulsion capable of flowing as a liquid upon gentle agitation.

Method And Composition For Surfacing And Repairing Broken Pavements With An Elastomeric Material Having Improved Flexing Properties At Freezing Temperatures Without Any Significant Loss Of Viscosity At High Application Temperatures

US Patent:
4021393, May 3, 1977
Filed:
Oct 14, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/622143
Inventors:
Charles H. McDonald - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
C08L 9500
US Classification:
260 285AS
Abstract:
A method and material is provided for surfacing and repairing broken pavements with an elastomeric paving material comprised of the reaction product between a paving grade asphalt and a non-oil resistant rubber having petroleum malthenes admixed with said reaction product to improve the flexing properties at freezing temperatures of said paving material without any significant loss of viscosity at the high temperatures of application.

Elastomeric Pavement Repair Composition

US Patent:
4069182, Jan 17, 1978
Filed:
Feb 7, 1975
Appl. No.:
5/544651
Inventors:
Charles H. McDonald - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
C08L 9500
US Classification:
260 285AS
Abstract:
An elastomeric pavement repair composition for pavement failure and a method of preparation thereof comprising of paving grade asphalt and rubber. The asphalt is heated to an elevated temperature and the rubber is combined therewith. The resulting composition is mixed to form a hot jellied composition which can be applied to cracked or distressed pavements to repair the same.

Cationic Method For Emulsifying Asphalt-Rubber Paving Material And A Stable Thixotropic Emulsion Of Said Material

US Patent:
4137204, Jan 30, 1979
Filed:
Nov 14, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/851062
Inventors:
Charles H. McDonald - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
C08L 9100
US Classification:
260 285AS
Abstract:
A new method is provided for emulsifying an asphalt-rubber pavement repair material into a stable thixotropic emulsion capable of flowing as a liquid upon gentle agitation. The method generally comprises the steps of heating asphalt and rubber to form a jellied reaction product, and admixing an asphalt-rubber soap consisting essentially of water, a cationic water soluble emulsifying agent, a thickener, and aluminum sulfate to form a thixotropic emulsion capable of flowing as a liquid upon gentle agitation.

Low Viscosity Asphalt-Rubber Paving Material

US Patent:
4085078, Apr 18, 1978
Filed:
Dec 27, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/754446
Inventors:
Charles H. McDonald - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
C08L 9500
US Classification:
260 285AS
Abstract:
The paving material comprises the reaction product formed by heating a mixture of paving grade asphalt and a non-oil resistent rubber to a temperature of about 350. degree. F to about 500. degree. F. The improvement provides for a relatively low viscosity paving material by admixing a diluent with the asphalt-rubber mixture prior to the reaction whereby the viscosity of the paving material is unexpectedly reduced to about one-half as compared to the viscosity of the reaction product having the diluent admixed after the formation thereof. Variations in the viscosity of the paving material are unexpectedly minimized by precuring the asphalt-rubber-diluent mixture prior to reaction thereof.

Method Of Pavement Repair

US Patent:
4113401, Sep 12, 1978
Filed:
Apr 4, 1977
Appl. No.:
5/784615
Inventors:
Charles H. McDonald - Phoenix AZ
International Classification:
E01C 735
US Classification:
404 75
Abstract:
A method of repairing pavements employing an elastomeric pavement repair composition comprised of paving grade asphalt and rubber. The asphalt is heated to an elevated temperature and the rubber is combined therewith. The resulting composition is mixed to form a hot jellied composition which is applied to cracked or distressed pavements to repair the same. The resulting composition can also be formed into a ready made elastomeric cold patch which is applied to cracked pavement surfaces after tacking of the surface.
