System And Method For Performing Ranging In A Cable Modem System

US Patent:
7573935, Aug 11, 2009
Filed:
Jun 10, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/164367
Inventors:
Jonathan S Min - Buena Park CA, US
Fang Lu - Rowland Heights CA, US
Assignee:
Broadcom Corporation - Irvine CA
International Classification:
H04B 1/38
US Classification:
375222, 375229, 375231, 375232
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system and method for performing ranging operations in a cable modem system. In accordance with embodiments of the present invention, transmission times, transmission power levels, transmission carrier frequencies, and pre-equalization parameters are adjusted to provide for robust operation of the cable modem system. More particularly, iterative processing steps are used to provide coefficient ordering, scaling, and aligning between the multiple cable modems and the cable modem termination system present in a cable modem system.

Semiconductor Die With Reduced Bump-To-Pad Ratio

US Patent:
7663235, Feb 16, 2010
Filed:
Jan 18, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/655644
Inventors:
Fang Lu - Rowland Heights CA, US
Ali Salem - Mission Viejo CA, US
Assignee:
Broadcom Corporation - Irvine CA
International Classification:
H01L 23/48
US Classification:
257737, 257777, 257E2301, 257686
Abstract:
According to one exemplary embodiment, a semiconductor die includes at least one pad ring situated on an active surface of the semiconductor die, where the at least one pad ring includes a number of pads. The semiconductor die further includes a number of bumps including at least one shared bump. The at least one shared bump is shared by at least two pads, thereby causing the number of bumps to be fewer than the number of pads. The at least two pads can be at least two ground pads, at least two power pads, or at least two reference voltage pads.
