Electronic Leakage Reduction Techniques

US Patent:
7999415, Aug 16, 2011
Filed:
Sep 22, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/888410
Inventors:
Christopher Vance Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
H01H 35/00
H01H 9/30
US Classification:
307126, 307135, 361160
Abstract:
Electronic leakage reduction techniques are provided, whereby an electrical outlet with a programmable computing unit is programmed to detect the current, resistance, power or pattern of current, resistance or power of an attached appliance in the on position and/or off position. Among other aspects, the electrical outlet with a programmable computing unit delivers a selected voltage below the original operational voltage and/or delivers voltage at particular durations for particular intervals to the appliance in the off position and compares detected current, resistance, power or pattern of current, resistance or power to programmed levels associated with the appliance in the on position and/or off position. If any or some of those characteristics match those programmed associated with the appliance in the on position, or fail to match those programmed associated with the off position by a set confidence interval, original operational voltage is provided to the appliance.

Electronic Leakage Reduction Techniques

US Patent:
8410639, Apr 2, 2013
Filed:
Aug 15, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/210366
Inventors:
Christopher V. Beckman - New York NY, US
Assignee:
Loughton Technology, L.L.C. - Wilmington DE
International Classification:
H01H 47/00
US Classification:
307126, 307135
Abstract:
Electronic leakage reduction techniques are provided, whereby a device is configured to detect characteristics of an appliance and its power supply when the appliance is off or otherwise placed in a mode for reduced power use by said appliance, and whereby voltage and power provided to the appliance are then substantially reduced. In other aspects of the invention, user behavior may also manually control power delivered to the appliance, for example, with a switch. In still other aspects of the invention, a device is configured to detect characteristics of an appliance and its power supply when the appliance is on or otherwise placed in a mode for higher power use by said appliance, and increases power to the appliance.

Techniques Of Document Annotation According To Subsequent Citation

US Patent:
2008008, Apr 10, 2008
Filed:
May 29, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/807736
Inventors:
Christopher Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
G06F 15/00
US Classification:
715230000
Abstract:
A method for presenting expressed principles of a first document according to the impact of subsequent commentary is provided. Principles of the first document that subsequent documents agree with are presented in a common, recognizable manner, such as highlighting. Principles of the first document that subsequent documents disagree with are presented in a different common, recognizable manner, such as another type if highlighting. Associated labels variably appear when the user indicates interest in a particular principle of the first document, and explain the affect of subsequent commentary on that particular principle with hyperlinks to the subject subsequent document, and provide a ranking score for the importance of the subsequent commentary. A separate indicia indicates a ranking of the validity of the first document, based on the ranking and number of subsequent commentary that agrees with and disagrees with the principles in the first document.

Data Storage And Access Facilitating Techniques

US Patent:
2008009, Apr 17, 2008
Filed:
May 29, 2007
Appl. No.:
11/806082
Inventors:
Christopher Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
H04L 9/32
US Classification:
726009000
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for securely accessing and storing private data files and programs on a personal computing device with network access is provided. A portable data storage unit or authentication unit conjoins to a personal computing device and initiates a software program that delivers hidden authentication information to part of the network. The network then presents secure data files to the user, and enables data and program storage and access by the user. Administrator(s) may program multiple, separately-identifiable portable data storage units to permit different levels of access. When the portable data storage unit or authentication unit is no longer conjoined to the personal computing device, access and presentation of the data are terminated. The portable data storage unit may comprise a pivoting computer port-conjoining member, allowing its housing to run parallel to and lock with the personal computing device housing with a spring-loaded button and ribs along the member.

Physics Engine Systems Using "Force Shadowing" For Forces At A Distance

US Patent:
2013015, Jun 20, 2013
Filed:
Dec 14, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/326235
Inventors:
Christopher V. Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
G06G 7/48
G06T 17/20
US Classification:
703 6, 345423
Abstract:
New physics engine systems and related media and products implementing a “Force Shadowing” effect from ambient, uniformly distributed background energy, to describe or simulate forces at a distance are provided.

Radiation Therapy Techniques Using Targeted Wave Superposition, Magnetic Field Direction And Real-Time Sensory Feedback

US Patent:
2013020, Aug 15, 2013
Filed:
Feb 12, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/371461
Inventors:
Christopher V. Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
A61N 5/10
US Classification:
378 65
Abstract:
New techniques for radiotherapy and radiosurgery are provided. In one aspect of the invention, multiple sources of radiation are provided in a planned frequency and in the same superposable period and polarization, from the same side of a treatment target, focused on a leading structure in the target. In another aspect, refractive models, updated by live feedback, are used to improve dosage distribution by, among other things, optimizing the number, angle and nature of radiation beams. Interstitial beacons and radiation path diversion structures are inserted to improve dosage distribution to a target and avoid critical neighboring structures. In particle therapy, regionally actuable external magnetic fields are used as well, to improve dosage accuracy and avoid collateral damage.

Non-Damaging Connection Techniques

US Patent:
2013026, Oct 10, 2013
Filed:
Apr 6, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/441832
Inventors:
Christopher V. Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
B25B 23/00
US Classification:
173 2
Abstract:
Improved techniques for avoiding and remediating connector-related stripping and other material damage are provided. In some aspects, specialized drive heads and systems are provided in conjunction with sensors for detecting proper distance characteristics and contact orientations (a.k.a., “seating”) with connectors, which, upon sensing improper seating, reduce, reverse-pulse or otherwise alter or remove power. The specialized driver heads may include reverse-grip members that pull the driver-head into the seated position. In other aspects, multiple-section connector sets are included, which may be self-tightening, and create detectable conditions of potential tightening energy being expended and/or loosening occurring, allowing an external sensor to sense such a condition and identify a connector that has loosened, slipped, or may be in need of recharging or tightening. A specialized connector head may selectively break away before stripping and thereby expose a stronger, secondary driver head. Associated driver refinements are also provided, which may further avoid damage.

Optical Control Techniques

US Patent:
2013030, Nov 14, 2013
Filed:
May 10, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/468977
Inventors:
Christopher V. Beckman - New York NY, US
International Classification:
H04N 5/225
G03B 17/00
F21V 21/00
F21V 5/04
G02B 27/02
B60R 1/08
US Classification:
348335, 359601, 359608, 362227, 362232, 396419, 348E05024
Abstract:
New optic control systems are provided that manage camera, user or environmental movement and other factors impacting optical and resulting image quality. In some aspects of the invention, a variably, directionally shadable semi-transparent matrix and actuating system is provided, which limits problematic glare for an observation point. In other aspects of the invention, a matrix creates directional light from a plurality of shiftable and angle-directable sources, which may aid in creating virtual, 3-D objects of greater realism than conventional 3-D imaging methods and aid in reducing the appearance of distracting interceding objects (e.g., finger blocking a touch screen). In still other aspects of the invention, electromagnetically actuated optical control techniques, including rotational lenses and sensors, are provided.
