US Classification:
382133, 382128, 382224, 345629
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for displaying diagnostic results obtained from a tissue sample. In general, the invention assigns tissue-class probability values to discrete regions of a patient sample, and creates an overlay for displaying the results. The overlay facilitates display of the tissue class probabilities in a way that reflects the diagnostic relevance of the data. For example, methods of the invention comprise applying filtering and color-blending techniques in order to facilitate display of diagnostic results.

US Classification:
2504581, 2504611, 600476, 600477, 600478, 600317
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for processing tissue-derived spectral data for use in a tissue classification algorithm. Methods of the invention comprise application of spectral and/or image masks for automatically separating ambiguous or unclassifiable spectral data from valid spectral data. The invention improves the accuracy of tissue classification, in part, by properly identifying and accounting for spectral data from tissue regions that are affected by an obstruction and/or regions that lie outside a diagnostic zone of interest.

Methods And Apparatus For Processing Image Data For Use In Tissue Characterization

US Patent:
2004020, Oct 21, 2004
Filed:
Apr 18, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/418975
Inventors:
Chunsheng Jiang - Reading MA, US
Christopher Griffin - West Groton MA, US
Ross Flewelling - Oakland CA, US
Peter Costa - Hudson MA, US
Stephen Sum - Waltham MA, US
Jean-Pierre Schott - Weston MA, US
Assignee:
MediSpectra, Inc. - Lexington MA
International Classification:
G06K009/00
US Classification:
382/260000
Abstract:
The invention provides methods for processing tissue-derived optical data for use in a classification algorithm. Methods of the invention comprise application of image masks for automatically identifying ambiguous or unclassifiable optical data. The optical data may comprise, for example, spectral data and/or acetowhitening kinetic data used in a tissue classification scheme. The invention improves the accuracy of tissue classification, in part, by properly identifying and accounting for image data from tissue regions that are affected by an obstruction and/or regions that lie outside a diagnostic zone of interest.

Systems For Identifying, Displaying, Marking, And Treating Suspect Regions Of Tissue

US Patent:
2006001, Jan 19, 2006
Filed:
Apr 16, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/530741
Inventors:
Ross Flewelling - Chelmsford MA, US
Christopher Griffin - West Groton MA, US
Chunsheng Jiang - Reading MA, US
Jean-Pierre Schott - Weston MA, US
Kevin Schomacker - Maynard MA, US
Assignee:
MediSpectra, Inc. - Lexington MA
International Classification:
G06K 9/00
US Classification:
382128000
Abstract:
The invention provides systems for automatically localizing areas of disease within a tissue sample using fluorescence spectra, reflectance spectra, and video images obtained from the sample. The invention further provides systems for displaying, marking, and treating the identified areas so that healthy surrounding tissue suffers minimal impact upon treatment and/or excision of the diseased tissue. The invention facilitates minimally-invasive treatment by accurately directing treatment to only those areas that are identified as diseased.

Abstract:
In part, the disclosure relates to intravascular data collection systems and the software-based visualization and display of intravascular data relating to detected side branches and side branch obstruction. An estimate of side branch diameter can be made based on a vessel profile or a maximum diameter of a vessel at a distal and proximal location relative to the side branch. A amount of side branch obstruction may be determined by comparing an observed side branch diameter with in the image data with the estimated side branch diameter. In addition, an amount of blood flow obstruction may also be determined.
