A system for transferring a body from a first surface to a second surface, with substantially no agitation of the body, is provided. The system comprises a housing having a substantially planar top portion configured to support the body and a substantially planar bottom portion configured to engage either of the first or the second surface. A first translation means is operatively disposed at the top portion a second translation means is operatively disposed at the bottom portion. The second translation means is configured to transfer the system between the surfaces, with or without the body. The first translation means is configured burrow between the first surface and the body.

Apparatus And Method For High-Throughput Preparation And Spectroscopic Classification And Characterization Of Compositions

US Patent:
6977723, Dec 20, 2005
Filed:
Sep 6, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/235922
Inventors:
Anthony V. Lemmo - Sudbury MA, US
Michael J. Cima - Winchester MA, US
Douglas Levinson - Sherborn MA, US
Alasdair Y. Johnson - Newburyport MA, US
Christopher McNulty - Minneapolis MN, US
Assignee:
Transform Pharmaceuticals, Inc. - Lexington MA
International Classification:
G01J003/44
G01N021/65
US Classification:
356301, 356326
Abstract:
Systems and methods are described that allow the high-throughput preparation, processing, and study of arrays of samples, each of which comprises at least one compound. Particular embodiments of the invention allow a large number of experiments to be performed in parallel on samples that comprised of one or more compounds on the milligram or microgram quantities of compounds. Other embodiments of the invention encompass methods and devices for the rapid screening of the results of such experiments, as well as methods and devices for rapidly determining whether or not similarities exist among groups of samples in an array. Particular embodiments of the invention encompass methods and devices for the high-throughput preparation of different forms of compounds (e. g. , different crystalline forms), for the discovery of new forms of old compounds, and for the discovery of new methods of producing such forms. Embodiments of the invention also allow for the high-throughput determination of how specific compounds or forms of compounds behave when exposed to other chemicals or environmental conditions.

Body Transfer System And Support Pads

US Patent:
7552493, Jun 30, 2009
Filed:
Nov 20, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/561683
Inventors:
Christopher T. McNulty - Concord MA, US
Assignee:

A47C 27/00
A61G 1/013
US Classification:
5723, 5 811 HS, 5 811 T, 5626
Abstract:
A system for transferring a body from a first surface to a second surface, or supporting a body during such translation with substantially no agitation of the body, is provided. A pad configured for use on a plurality of patient support surfaces, e. g. , with the transfer system, can comprise a main portion dimensioned to substantially cover a first support surface, a supplemental portion configured to combine with the main portion to substantially cover a second support surface dimensioned larger than the first support surface, and at least one living hinge coupling the main portion to the supplemental portion and configured to adapt the pad for use between the first support surface and second support surface.

Body Transfer System And Method

US Patent:
7748062, Jul 6, 2010
Filed:
Dec 22, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/341744
Inventors:
Christopher McNulty - Concord MA, US
Assignee:
Astir Technologies, LLC - Concord MA
International Classification:
A61G 7/14
US Classification:
5 811C, 5 811 HS
Abstract:
A body transfer system, includes a housing having a substantially planar top portion configured to support a body and having a substantially planar bottom portion; a bottom translation mechanism disposed at the bottom portion and configured to translate the system across a first surface upon which a body rests; and a top translation mechanism disposed at the top portion and configured to burrow the system between the first surface and the body as the bottom translation mechanism translates the first surface. A method of transferring a body is also included.

Dedicated System For Msk Joint Imaging

US Patent:
8384386, Feb 26, 2013
Filed:
Nov 10, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/615385
Inventors:
Christopher McNulty - Concord MA, US
Peter B. Roemer - North Andover MA, US
Robert Stevens - Chelmsford MA, US
Yuan Cheng - Andover MA, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
G01V 3/00
US Classification:
324318, 324309
Abstract:
A system and method are presented that facilitate imaging of the joints of the upper and lower extremities including, for example, the hip and shoulder as well as sections of the spine, among others. One embodiment of the invention includes a short bore cylindrical magnet with an imaging volume smaller than that of a comparable whole body system, an articulated table that allows placement of the joint to be imaged in the center of the magnet homogeneous volume while maintaining a high degree of patient comfort and openness. The gradient and RF coils may be positioned above and below the patient instead of 360 degrees surrounding the patient. A smaller RF and gradient coil is made feasible because of the reduced imaging volume.

Body Transfer System With Yaw Control

US Patent:
8601619, Dec 10, 2013
