Image Perfection For Virtual Presence Architecture (Vpa)

US Patent:
2004021, Oct 28, 2004
Filed:
Mar 4, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/792284
Inventors:
Colin Cook - Riverton UT, US
Warren Unice - Sandy UT, US
Assignee:
Soronti, Inc.
International Classification:
G06F015/16
H04L001/00
H04M011/00
US Classification:
709/217000, 709/219000, 379/093010, 370/230000
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for perfecting the images generated by a KVM switch. Video signals generated by a host computer are transmitted to a client computer in order to allow the user of a client computer to have a virtual presence on the host computer. However, the signals transmitted by the host computer may contain errors that would impair the client user's ability to remotely control the host computer. Therefore this virtual presence architecture uses phase locked loops to compare screen data that is being sent to the client and removes errors so that the user data is properly transmitted and displayed.

Mouse Synchronization For Virtual Presence Architecture (Vpa)

US Patent:
2004021, Oct 28, 2004
Filed:
Mar 4, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/792662
Inventors:
Colin Cook - Riverton UT, US
Warren Unice - Sandy UT, US
Assignee:
Soronti, Inc.
International Classification:
G06F015/16
H04M011/00
US Classification:
709/217000, 709/219000, 379/093010
Keyboard-Video-Mouse (Kvm) Loop Back Configuration For Virtual Presence Architecture (Vpa)

US Patent:
2004022, Nov 4, 2004
Filed:
Mar 4, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/792285
Inventors:
Colin Cook - Riverton UT, US
Warren Unice - Sandy UT, US
Assignee:
Soronti, Inc.
International Classification:
G06F015/16
US Classification:
709/203000
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for incorporating a virtual presence server on a host computer. Video signals generated by a host computer are transmitted to a client using the virtual presence server in order to allow the user of a client computer to have a virtual presence on the host computer. However, the virtual presence server should not interfere with the main functions and operations of the host computer. Therefore this virtual presence server uses a stand alone device, such as a PCI card, as the virtual presence server in order to retain independent functionality from the host computer and occupy minimal physical space and power.

Methods And Apparatus For Synchronizing Virtual And Physical Mouse Pointers On Remote Kvm Systems

US Patent:
2005000, Jan 13, 2005
Filed:
Mar 4, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/792286
Inventors:
Colin Cook - Riverton UT, US
Warren Unice - Sandy UT, US
Adam Boyle - American Fork UT, US
International Classification:
G09G005/08
US Classification:
345163000
Abstract:
A method and system is disclosed for synchronizing the virtual and physical mouse cursors of a local computer and a remotely controlled computer. Video signals generated by a host computer are transmitted to a client computer in order to allow the user of a client computer to have a virtual presence on the host computer. However, the signals transmitted by the host computer may contain errors that can cause a physical mouse to lose synchronization with a virtual mouse. Therefore this virtual presence architecture uses USB protocol and human interface descriptors that support the movement of a mouse to an absolute position in order to synchronize a virtual mouse cursor with a physical mouse cursor.

Data Stream Management

US Patent:
2010016, Jul 1, 2010
Filed:
Dec 29, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/649191
Inventors:
Donald Thomas Saxby - Salt Lake City UT, US
Colin N.B. Cook - Riverton UT, US
Joseph Arthur Harris - West Jordan UT, US
Assignee:
Celio Technology Corporation - Salt Lake City UT
International Classification:
G06F 13/14
US Classification:
710316
Abstract:
A method for packetizing and communicating data. Data payloads are allocated to data categories based on processing function. A dedicated communication channel is associated with each data category. A data processing header for each channel precedes the data payload in each data communication packet, includes particulars sufficient to support a data processing operation, and is size-independent of the data payload. The header includes a dominant header sized common to all headers and a subdominant header of size defined for each channel, but independent of the data payload. The dominant header includes an operation identifier explicating the purpose of the data payload followed by a payload-size indicator conveying the size the data payload. The data payload may be empty. Dedicated communication channels include a command channel for keyboard and mouse events, a video raster channel, and a mass storage media block channel.

Method And Apparatus For Managing Alerts And Events In A Networked Computer System

US Patent:
5621892, Apr 15, 1997
Filed:
Oct 10, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/541493
Inventors:
Colin Cook - Lindon UT
Assignee:
Intel Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
G06F 15177
US Classification:
3952001
Abstract:
An event management system for handling alerts and events in a computer system is disclosed. A server computer coupled to a network contains the event management software of the present invention. The event management software receives alerts sent by other computers on the network. Using a previously configured alert map with mapper and scheduler, the event management software dispatches service providers in response to the alerts received across the network or in response to the expiration of a timed event. An API is provided within each computer or device in which alerts can be generated. Using the standard interface definition, any of a wide variety of different alert types generated within the networked computers can be triggered and channeled through the network to the server where corresponding service providers are activated.
