Two-Flap Closure

US Patent:
RE37634, Apr 9, 2002
Filed:
Oct 23, 1996
Appl. No.:
08/731975
Inventors:
John R. Hickman - Talmadge OH
Craig C. Weidman - Wooster OH
Nickolas J. Kriska - Uniontown OH
Assignee:
Weatherchem Corporation - Twinsburg OH
International Classification:
B67D 300
US Classification:
222480, 220254, 220826, 215235, 215237
Abstract:
An injection-molded thermoplastic closure with shake-and-spoon apertures and associated flaps for selectively closing and opening the apertures. The flaps are releasably retained in their closed positions by catch elements which provide retention forces that are relatively insensitive to dimensional and shape variations in the body resulting from the molding process. In one embodiment, the cap has âfreeze pointsâ and a gate location that reduce the tendency of the cap to assume an oval condition when cooled from molding temperatures. A wide sealing ledge cooperates with a central support for a liner seal positioned in the cap to seal the mouth of a container.

Container For Compact Disc

US Patent:
5259498, Nov 9, 1993
Filed:
Oct 29, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/784321
Inventors:
James T. Weisburn - Massillon OH
Craig C. Weidman - Wooster OH
Assignee:
Alpha Enterprises, Inc. - North Canton OH
International Classification:
B65D 550
US Classification:
206 4515
Abstract:
A container construction and method for displaying a compact disc for sale and for subsequent storage thereof after purchase by a consumer. The container comprises a base having a storage compartment, a tray pivotally mounted on the base for releasably holding a compact disc, and a lid pivotally mounted on the base for enclosing the tray and disc within the storage compartment of the base to protect the compact disc when not in use after purchase. A locking mechanism is provided on first ends of the base, tray and lid and lock the base, lid and tray in a generally flat extended end-to-end relationship for display with the tray being pivoted into the lid so that the compact disc is secure between the lid and tray. Graphic sheets are placed over the base and lid when in the extended and locked position, and then covered with a clear plastic wrapper for display. After purchase, the wrapper and graphic sheets are removed and the base and lid pulled slightly apart to an unlocked position.

Abstract:
A device for automatically brewing and holding tea has a water reservoir and a combined water reservoir inlet and heated water distributor attached to and extending forward from the water reservoir, a base for holding a hot tea receptacle under the combined water reservoir inlet and heated water distributor. A hot tea receptacle especially adapted for use with the device has a flat bottom surface for optimal heat transfer from the base to the receptacle.

Tamper-Evident Closure For Dispensers

US Patent:
4792054, Dec 20, 1988
Filed:
Aug 13, 1987
Appl. No.:
7/084877
Inventors:
Craig C. Weidman - Wooster OH
Assignee:
Weatherchem Corporation - Twinsburg OH
International Classification:
B65D 5118
US Classification:
222 23
Abstract:
A tamper-evident dispenser end closure including an imperforate hermetically sealed base and a rotor pivotally connected to the base by a snap-fit between a female pocket formed in the base and an annular male protrusion formed in the rotor. The protrusion contains an opening for visual detection of tampering with the pocket of the base. The base and rotor are retained in a close superposed relationship by the snap-fit pocket and protrusion. Frangible means are provided which tear or break when an attempt is made to separate the base from the rotor thereby evidencing tampering with the rotor. The base and rotor have webs provided with means defining respective dispensing apertures.
