Control Apparatus For Powered Vehicle Door Systems

US Patent:
5684470, Nov 4, 1997
Filed:
Jun 7, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/485654
Inventors:
Daniel L. DeLand - Davison MI
Paul Heimnick - Owosso MI
Curtis T. Moy - Grand Blanc MI
Lawrence H. Zuckerman - Easton PA
David G. Grossman - Green Lane PA
Kurt P. Schuler - Allentown PA
Assignee:
Masco Industries, Inc. - Taylor MI
International Classification:
G08C 1900
US Classification:
34082569
Abstract:
Control systems including control circuitry and optional communications systems for operating a sliding power-operated member of an automotive vehicle. A powered sliding door in an automotive vehicle, such as a van, moves along a predetermined path of travel between a closed position and a fully open position relative to the body of the vehicle. Such a sliding door may be provided with one or more electrically-operated actuators for performing functions associated with the door, such as power opening and closing the door, power unlatching the door, power locking and unlocking the door, and power clamping and unclamping the door in a soft or low-momentum manner. The invention is directed toward improved control systems and circuitry for operating such power-sliding door systems. One such control system employs a wireless communications link between the door and body, which is preferably implemented using radio frequency communication signals containing digitally encoded control signals. Control circuitry is preferably provided in the body and the door of the vehicle for supervising and carrying out the foregoing functions in an orderly manner in response to requests generated locally at the door or remotely by the driver from the console of the vehicle.

Power Window Actuator

US Patent:
5140771, Aug 25, 1992
Filed:
Jun 4, 1991
Appl. No.:
7/709934
Inventors:
Curtis T. Moy - Grand Blanc MI
Orest Iwasiuk - Farmington Hills MI
Assignee:
Masco Industries, Inc. - Taylor MI
International Classification:
E05F 1504
US Classification:
49340
Abstract:
A vehicle power window actuator for pivoting a side glass view panel about an axis. The actuator is fixedly mounted on a vehicle body panel and is comprised of a housing containing screw spindle rotatable by a reversible electric motor, a follower axially displaceable on said screw spindle by rotation of said screw spindle, and link pivotably connected at one end to said follower and at the other end to a window glass pane connector assembly, said link telescopically slidable within said housing. Axial movement of the follower on the screw spindle in one direction causes extension of the link out of the housing thereby exerting a pushing force on the connector assembly thus pivoting the glass view panel outwardly to an open position. Axial movement of the follower on the screw in the other direction causes retraction of the link into the housing thereby exerting a pulling force on the connector assembly thus pulling the glass view panel inwardly to a closed position.

Power Window Actuator

US Patent:
5385061, Jan 31, 1995
Filed:
Mar 24, 1992
Appl. No.:
7/856591
Inventors:
Curtis T. Moy - Grand Blanc MI
Orest Iwasiuk - Farmington Hills MI
Assignee:
MascoTech Controls - Oxford MI
International Classification:
F16H 2116
US Classification:
74 42
Abstract:
A direct drive power window actuator for remote opening and closing of a pivotable quarter window of an automotive vehicle comprising a reversible motor, power transmitting gear train operatively connected with said motor at one end and with a rotary shaft at the other end for rotating said rotary shaft, and window mounted linkage assembly for converting the rotational torque of the rotary shaft into an opening-and-closing force for the window.

Power Actuator For A Vehicle Window

US Patent:
6195940, Mar 6, 2001
Filed:
Oct 22, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/955587
Inventors:
Curtis T. Moy - Oxford MI
Assignee:
Saturn Electronics & Engineering, Inc. - Auburn Hills MI
International Classification:
E05F 1134
US Classification:
49324
Abstract:
A vehicle window direct drive power actuator for pivoting a window outwardly of a vehicle body about an axis. The actuator comprises a reversible electric motor and a power transmitting gear train driven by the motor and including a rotational output gear. The rotational output gear includes stop circuit actuating member thereon for actuating a motor control circuit that controls energization of the reversible electric motor to thereby electrically control the open and closed positions of the window relative to the vehicle body. A window linkage assembly is mounted on the window in a manner to convert the rotational torque of the rotary output gear into an opening-and-closing force for the window. The linkage assembly converts the rotational torque of the rotary output gear in a one direction into a window opening force and a rotational torque in the opposite direction, caused by reversing the driving motor, into a window closing force.
