Customized Travel Route System

US Patent:
2013000, Jan 3, 2013
Filed:
Jun 29, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/171974
Inventors:
Bradford H. Needham - North Plains OR, US

Abstract:
An embodiment of the invention includes (a) acquiring a tour start location, a tour constraint, and a first user travel preference for a first user; and (b) determining a tour route, including first and second tour segments, based on the tour start location and the tour constraint. The first tour segment is determined based on the first user travel preference. The tour constraint includes a time constraint that is defined by the first user and includes a maximum allowable time for the tour route. Other embodiments are described herein.

Method And Apparatus For Providing Broadcast Information With Indexing

US Patent:
5818510, Oct 6, 1998
Filed:
Jun 27, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/669723
Inventors:
David A. Cobbley - Portland OR
John A. Throckmorton - Lake Oswego OR
Assignee:
Intel Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
H04N 710
US Classification:
348 7
Abstract:
A method and apparatus generates and transfers a stream of broadcast information which includes multiple video and audio information segments to a receiving device. Once received, the segments are stored in a cache and indexing information associated with the segments is made available to end users of the apparatus. The end users are then able to select which segment(s) they would like to receive, and the selected segment(s) is transmitted to the requesting user(s). In one embodiment, when a new segment is received, a determination is made as to whether it is a more recent version of another segment already stored by the apparatus. If it is a more recent version, then the older version is overwritten by the newer version.

System For Processing Handwriting Written By User Of Portable Computer By Server Or Processing By The Computer When The Computer No Longer Communicate With Server

US Patent:
5546538, Aug 13, 1996
Filed:
Dec 14, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/167523
Inventors:
David A. Cobbley - Portland OR
James A. Valerio - Portland OR
Frederick J. Pollack - Portland OR
Assignee:
Intel Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
G06F 1300
US Classification:
39520001
Abstract:
A computer arrangement that offloads computationally intensive tasks from portable computer devices to larger servers is disclosed. A portable computer device that relies on handwriting or speech for input is equipped with a wireless communication subsystem. When a user writes on the display or speaks into the portable computer device, the central processing unit passes the handwriting or speech information to the wireless communication subsystem. While the user is still inputting information, the wireless communication subsystem transmits received information to a communication server. The communication server routes the handwriting or speech information to a server that performs handwriting or speech recognition to translate the information into encoded text. The communication server then transmits the encoded text information back to the portable computer device.

Technologies For Conversational Interfaces For System Control

US Patent:
2019039, Dec 26, 2019
Filed:
Mar 13, 2019
Appl. No.:
16/352018
Inventors:
- Santa Clara CA, US
Kara E. Jackson - Seattle WA, US
Mark D. Yarvis - Portland OR, US
David J. Cobbley - Portland OR, US
Andrew S. Dickinson - Tigard OR, US
Milind Pandit - Portland OR, US
International Classification:
G05B 15/02
G10L 15/22
Abstract:
Technologies for conversational control of a home automation system include a computing device in communication with one or more home automation devices. The computing device receives text input indicative of a spoken user request including one or more parameters associated with a home automation command. The computing device matches the text input against a home automation language model including several predefined dialog patterns. The computing device resolves parameters of the command using a context model. The computing device may resolve the location, device, or requested device state of the command. The computing device generates a text response and a home automation command using the language model, and then presents the text response to the user and performs the home automation command using the home automation devices. In some embodiments, the computing device may control an application automation system or a data exploration system. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
