US Classification:
5 831, 5 811 R, 5 861, 5 871
Abstract:
A patient lift has a base extending in a forward direction, and a mast mounted relative to the base. The mast includes a hinge configured to allow the mast to be pivoted relative to the base between an upright operative position and a folded position, wherein when the mast is in the folded position the mast is substantially parallel to the base and extends in the forward direction. A latch mechanism is configured to hold the mast in the folded position when the latch mechanism is locked, and to allow the mast to be returned to the upright operative position when the latch mechanism is released. The latch mechanism is configured to automatically lock when the mast is moved to the folded position.

Multi-Position Support For A Folding Patient Lift Device

US Patent:
7921486, Apr 12, 2011
Filed:
Dec 15, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/335104
Inventors:
Melvin C. Biersteker - Los Angeles CA, US
Colin C. Bain - Stevens Point WI, US
David J. Genske - Plover WI, US
Erik J. Bluemner - Stevens Point WI, US
Assignee:
Joerns Healthcare, LLC - Stevens Point WI
International Classification:
A61G 7/10
US Classification:
5 871, 5 811 R, 5 861, 5 831
Abstract:
A patient lift has a base, a mast assembly mounted on the base at the lower end, a boom pivotally mounted at one end on the mast assembly. An actuator is mounted on the boom and configured to move between a retracted position and an extended position to pivot the boom relative to the mast assembly between a lowered position and a raised position. A support member includes a sling attachment pivotally mounted on the outer end of the boom. A locking mechanism is configured to fix the support member relative to the boom when the locking mechanism is engaged and further configured to allow pivotal movement of the support member relative to the boom when the locking mechanism is released.

Multi-Position Support For A Folding Patient Lift Device

US Patent:
8122534, Feb 28, 2012
Filed:
Feb 15, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/705931
Inventors:
Melvin C. Biersteker - Los Angeles CA, US
Colin C. Bain - Stevens Point WI, US
David J. Genske - Plover WI, US
Erik J. Bluemner - Stevens Point WI, US
Assignee:
Joerns Healthcare, LLC - Stevens Point WI
International Classification:
A61G 7/10
US Classification:
5 861, 5 871, 5 811 R, 5 831
Abstract:
A stand assist device includes a base with legs that extend in a forward direction. The stand assist device also includes a mast assembly mounted on the base, the mast assembly including a mast. A boom is pivotally attached to the mast and an actuator is attached to the boom. The actuator is adapted to be driven in order to cause the boom to rotate relative to the mast. A knee pad is also attached relative to the mast assembly. The mast may be moved between a seated position wherein the mast extends upwardly from the base, and a folded position wherein the mast extends substantially in the forward direction. The base, mast assembly, and knee pad are configured so that the knee pad does not interfere with the base when the mast is moved into the folded position.

Millimeter-Wave Active Imaging System

US Patent:
2005012, Jun 9, 2005
Filed:
Dec 5, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/728456
Inventors:
Thomas Grudkowski - Pleasanton CA, US
Richard Rowe - Saratoga CA, US
Raymond Blasing - Los Altos CA, US
Scott Trosper - Meridian ID, US
Thomas Trawick - San Jose CA, US

Abstract:
Active millimeter-wave imaging systems can include an antenna apparatus configured to transmit toward and receive from a subject in a subject position, electromagnetic radiation. A controller can include a transceiver configured to operate the antenna apparatus and produce an output representative of the received radiation, and a processor adapted to convert the transceiver output into image data representative of an image of the subject. The antenna apparatus may move in a partial or continuous loop around the subject, toward or away from the subject, or in an opposite direction to an associated antenna apparatus. Antenna units in the antenna apparatus may be oriented at different angular positions along an array. Antenna arrays may also be formed of a plurality of array segments, and a group of arrays may be combined to form an antenna apparatus.
