Abstract:
A packet mapper prioritizes streams of data packets in a computer network, each data packet having a packet header containing feature values descriptive of the data packet. The packet mapper includes a mapping table that associates application-related features with network-reserved feature values from a range of feature values reserved for use by selected network data packet streams, and a feature value mapper that performs at least one of (i) in each packet header having an application-related feature value associated with a network-reserved feature value, substituting the associated network-reserved feature value for the application-related feature value, and (ii) in each packet header having a network-reserved feature value associated with an application-related feature value, substituting the associated application-related feature value for the network-reserved feature value.

Pulsed Circuit Topology To Perform A Memory Array Write Operation

US Patent:
6567337, May 20, 2003
Filed:
Jun 30, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/607897
Inventors:
Milo D. Sprague - Hudson MA
David K. Li - Portland OR
Robert J. Murray - Portland OR
Assignee:
Intel Corporation - Santa Clara CA
International Classification:
G11C 800
US Classification:
365233, 36518905, 36518912
Abstract:
A pulsed circuit topology to perform a memory array write operation. A write enable pulse width control circuit is responsive to a pulsed clock signal to generate a pulsed write enable signal and a write data path circuit is provided to output a write data signal. The write enable pulse width control circuit and the write data path circuit together control a write operation to a memory cell.

Optical Switch Using Rotatable Reflector

US Patent:
6526196, Feb 25, 2003
Filed:
Mar 9, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/802414
Inventors:
David Ya Li - Sunnyvale CA
Assignee:
Oxconn Optical Technology Inc. - George Town
International Classification:
G02B 642
US Classification:
385 18, 385 17, 385 24
Abstract:
An optical switch includes a light transmitting/receiving sub-assembly and a reflecting device rotatable relative to and confronted with the light transmitting/receiving array sub-assembly. The reflecting device includes two reflecting strips perpendicular to each other. One of the reflecting strips is consisted of two symmetrically arranged 90-degree angled mirrors, and the other includes four symmetrically arranged 90-degree angled mirrors. The sub-assembly includes two linear arrays of collimators which are positioned on a circular disk and are perpendicular to each other corresponding to the two reflecting strips. The collimators of each collimator array are equally spaced from each other. By rotating the light transmitting/receiving sub-assembly with respect to the reflecting device, the light from the light transmitting/receiving sub-assembly is switched between the reflecting strips of the reflecting device.

Methods And Apparatuses For Normalizing The Intensity Of An Image

US Patent:
6577775, Jun 10, 2003
Filed:
May 19, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/314816
Inventors:
David Y. Li - West Roxbury MA
Assignee:
Cognex Corporation - Natick MA
International Classification:
G06K 940
US Classification:
382274, 358446
Abstract:
A methods and apparatuses are disclosed for determining the state of elements in an image. The elements can be arranged in any regular pattern, such as a matrix of LCD display elements. The state of the elements is determined by extracting a characteristic of the elements, such as intensity, and processing the characteristic to provide comparison criteria, such as a difference value. The comparison criteria are then used to determine the state of the element alone or in combination with other comparisons, such as average intensity comparisons. Several comparisons and variations thereof are disclosed, as well as the preferred ordering and configuration of comparisons for LCD displays. Also disclosed is an embodiment where a model of the elements is generated and used to inspect the elements. Also disclosed is a method to normalize the intensity of any image, which in a preferred embodiment normalizes the intensity of the image of the LCD elements before evaluation, where normalizing the intensity of the image optimally makes the grey values of an element of one color the same throughout the image.

Method Of Manufacturing A Core Collimating Assembly For Dwdm Devices

US Patent:
6633701, Oct 14, 2003
Filed:
Jan 16, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/764650
Inventors:
David Ya Li - Sunnyvale CA
Lawrence Zhang - Fremont CA
Xiaoxing Zhang - Milpitas CA
Assignee:
Foxconn Optical Technology, Inc. - Grorge Town
International Classification:
G02B 632
US Classification:
385 34, 385 24
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a collimating assembly includes the following steps: preparing a GRIN lens subassembly; preparing a dual-fiber (DF) pigtail subassembly; fitting the GRIN lens subassembly and the DF pigtail subassembly together; applying epoxy onto a junction zone between the GRIN lens subassembly and the DF pigtail subassembly; and baking the junction zone for curing the epoxy thereof until the epoxy spreading uniformly over the junction zone due to the so-called capillarity phenomenon.

Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer

US Patent:
7010228, Mar 7, 2006
Filed:
Nov 2, 2001
Appl. No.:
10/052809
Inventors:
David Li - Sunnyvale CA, US
Hong Liang Cui - Basking Ridge NJ, US
Assignee:
Hon Hai Precision Ind. Co., Ltd. - Taipei Hsien
International Classification:
H04J 14/02
US Classification:
398 83, 398 96
Abstract:
An optical add-drop multiplexer comprises an optical switch () for selection of a desired wavelength channel to be extracted, a pre-processing channel assembly (), an optical reflector (), an optical extractor (), a post-processing channel assembly (), and an optical coupler () aligned with the post-processing channel assembly. The pre-processing channel assembly transmits a multiplexed signal stream containing a plurality of channels. The optical reflector directs light rays emitted from the pre-processing channel assembly into the optical extractor. The optical extractor comprises a narrow bandpass filter () that allows a desired channel to pass therethrough and reflects other unextracted channels. The desired channel can be dropped by switching to a corresponding output port of the optical switch. The optical reflector directs light rays reflected from the optical extractor to the post-processing channel assembly.
