Apple Computer, Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G02F 11333
US Classification:
361683, 361687, 361799, 364708, 165 802
Abstract:
An apparatus for removing heat from heat generating elements is disclosed. The apparatus is a thermal management system having a thermal distribution assembly in either one of or both of conductive and radiative communication with heat generating elements. The thermal distribution assembly has thermal zones, each of which is associated with at least one heat generating element. The thermal distribution assembly includes a heat spreading frame and a heat conducting frame. Heat passes from the heat generating elements to the heat conducting frame and then to the heat spreading frame, from which the heat is removed via convection.

Use Of Titanium In A Notebook Computer

US Patent:
6574096, Jun 3, 2003
Filed:
Sep 29, 2000
Appl. No.:
09/675538
Inventors:
John Difonzo - Emerald Hills CA
Stephen Zadesky - Mountain View CA
David Lundgren - Mill Valley CA
Assignee:
Apple Computer, Inc. - Cupertino CA
International Classification:
G06F 116
US Classification:
361683, 361686, 345169, 3647081
Abstract:
The present invention uses titanium and titanium alloys to form the main and display housings of notebook computers. Specifically, the present invention glues injection molded frames to titanium or titanium alloy sheet metal casings. Continuous beads of glue used to overcome the problems formerly associated with shearing. Bayonet recptors formed in the interior of the main casings bottom case reduce the number of screws needed to attach components forming the main and display housings. Bayonet structures formed in an exterior portion of an injection molded frame slidably mate with the bayonet receptors to look the bottom case of the main housing in position. In some embodiments, the edges of the bottom case are beveled to form a strong five-sided box.
