Molded Grip Glove

US Patent:
2012001, Jan 26, 2012
Filed:
Jul 23, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/842362
Inventors:
David Patrick McCrane - Napa CA, US
International Classification:
A41D 19/00
US Classification:
21611, 2163, 2167
Abstract:
Glove for use in weightlifting or other activities in which an object is gripped. The glove has pads of moldable, malleable, substantially cohesive material on the palm and fingers that conforms to the contours of the object and a hand wearing the glove and retains its shape without hardening to provide a firm, solid grip between the hand and the object. The palm section and the finger stalls are fabricated of thin, flexible material, and the pads overlie fleshier parts of the palm and fingers, with gaps between the pads extending along joint lines of the palm and fingers and the elastic material in the gaps providing hinges which flex along the joint lines and allow adjacent ones of the pads to come together to form a substantially continuous gripping surface when the hand and glove are curled about the object. The malleable material in the pads on the finger stalls is enclosed in pockets having rolled upper edges, with front and rear panels which are formed continuously with the rolled edges and fastened together along side and bottom edges of the pockets. In some embodiments, the pads are attached directly to the body of the glove and to the finger stalls, and in others they are attached to an outer layer that overlies the palm section and further facilitates gripping of the object.

Overlapping Palm Glove

US Patent:
2012001, Jan 26, 2012
Filed:
Jul 23, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/842390
Inventors:
David Patrick McCrane - Napa CA, US
International Classification:
A41D 19/00
US Classification:
21611, 2163
Abstract:
A glove for gripping an object having an inner glove with a lower palm section of relatively non-stretchable material and an upper palm section of relatively stretchable material that overlie the palm side of the hand of person wearing the glove, a back section that overlies the back of the hand, and stalls for receiving the fingers and thumb. An outer panel overlies substantially the entire palm section and is attached to the inner glove along the upper margin of the outer panel and partially or wholly detached from the inner glove along at least one side of the outer panel. The lower margin of the outer panel is also attached to the inner glove in some embodiments, and in others it is secured to the wrist separately from the inner glove. In some disclosed embodiments, the outer panel is fabricated of elastic material that draws the hand toward a closed position for gripping the object. In others, it is fabricated of a relatively non-stretchable material that is attached at one end to the base portion of the palm section and extends beyond the finger stalls, with a distal end portion of the panel being rolled back and attached to the front sides of the stalls so that it can flatten out and extend farther up the fingers when the hand is curled about the object.

Pulled Palm Glove

US Patent:
2012001, Jan 26, 2012
Filed:
Jul 23, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/842411
Inventors:
David Patrick McCrane - Napa CA, US
International Classification:
A41D 19/00
US Classification:
21611, 2162, 2167, 2163
Abstract:
Glove for gripping an object having a palm section that overlies the palm side of the hand, a back section that overlies the back of the hand, stalls for receiving the fingers and thumb, and a tab extending from the lower margin of the palm section which can be pulled in a downward direction to tension the palm section, and means for holding the tab in a pulled position to maintain tension in the palm section.

Protective Device For Use In Active Sports And Work Activities

US Patent:
6029273, Feb 29, 2000
Filed:
May 21, 1996
Appl. No.:
8/651991
Inventors:
David P. McCrane - Napa CA
International Classification:
A41D 1300
US Classification:
2 24
Abstract:
A protective device which can be employed for preventing injuries to a person's limbs in active sports and work activities. The device is comprised of a cushioning pad, a replaceable wear cap and a fastening structure which releasably fastens between the inner surface of the wear cap and the outer surface of the cushioning pad. The cushioning pad is adapted to fit about a limb of the user. The fastening structure includes a first layer which is comprised of a material having a plurality of loops, and a second layer comprised of a material having a plurality of hooks. The hooks of the second layer are unidirectional and when the two layers are brought into facing contact the hooks and loops interengage in a manner so that the wear cap has a greater resistance to force components vectored opposite the common direction in which the hooks face. A method of releasing the wear cap from the cushioning pad includes moving the edge of a blade-like tool through the interface between the two layers along the common direction so that the two layers disengage and separate.

Joint Protector For Use In Active Sports

US Patent:
6122768, Sep 26, 2000
Filed:
Apr 7, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/838407
Inventors:
David P. McCrane - Napa CA
International Classification:
A41D 1306
A41D 1308
US Classification:
2 16
Abstract:
A joint protector for protecting a human user's knee or elbow from injury. The protector is comprised of a cushion pad which is shaped to fit about portions of the user's knee or elbow. A cap is fitted about the outer surface of the cushion pad and a flexible cover overlies the outer face of the cap. In one embodiment a support carries a cup-shaped cap that is formed of an elastic, compliant material. The cap elastically deforms, responsive to forces impacting on a small area, in an amount sufficient to spread the forces over a flat area as the forces are transferred into and absorbed by the cushion pad. The cap returns to its initial shape when the impact forces are removed. A mechanism is provided for removably attaching the joint protector to the user's knee or elbow joint.

The body carries a back splint secured to its backside as well as a thumbhole which fits about the user's thumb. Fasteners are provided for releasably fastening both the flap portion and the strap in a closed position about the user's wrist. The outer edge of the flap portion is configured so that when in a closed position it is substantially out of restraining relationship with the little finger side of the user's hand to enable the hand to laterally flex.
