Dec 18, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/641476
Inventors:
Tony Tannoury - Andover MA, US
Michael J O'Neil - Raynham MA, US
Derek Shaw - Raynham MA, US
Hassan Serhan - Raynham MA, US
Assignee:
DePuy Synthes Products, LLC. - Raynham MA
International Classification:
A61B 17/08
US Classification:
606152
Abstract:
A self-retaining neural retraction clip, preferably having controlled retraction level and an off-set retraction means. This device can reduce operative site clutter to enhance disc access while providing consistent and stable dural retraction.

Instruments And Methods For Non-Parallel Disc Space Preparation

US Patent:
2011031, Dec 29, 2011
Filed:
Jun 17, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/163471
Inventors:
Michael J. O'Neil - Raynham MA, US
Douglas Raymond - Raynham MA, US
Jonathan Bellas - Raynham MA, US
Derek Shaw - Raynham MA, US
International Classification:
A61B 17/16
A61M 29/00
A61B 17/56
US Classification:
606 84, 606108, 606191
Abstract:
Flexible shavers and curved access ports that reduce access and trajectory problems associated with conventional lateral approaches to the lower spine. These devices and methods allow for preparing a disc space in the lower spine at an angle that is parallel to the disc space. Consequently, these devices and methods allow for preparing with less endplate damage.

Enhanced Cage Insertion Device

US Patent:
2011031, Dec 29, 2011
Filed:
Jun 24, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/822739
Inventors:
John C. Voellmicke - Raynham MA, US
Michael J. O'Neil - Raynham MA, US
Derek Shaw - Raynham MA, US
Alexander Grinberg - Raynham MA, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/44
US Classification:
623 1711
Abstract:
A method of delivering a fusion cage to an intervertebral disc space bounded by adjacent vertebral endplates, comprising the step of delivering the fusion cage into the disc space without contacting its teeth to the vertebral endplates during delivery, wherein a sheath is interposed between a cage surface and the endplates to prevent contact therebetween during delivery.

Multi-Segment Lateral Cage Adapted To Flex Substantially In The Coronal Plane

US Patent:
2011032, Dec 29, 2011
Filed:
Jun 17, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/163517
Inventors:
Michael J. O'Neil - Raynham MA, US
Douglas Raymond - Raynham MA, US
Jonathan Bellas - Raynham MA, US
Andrew Dooris - Raynham MA, US
Alexander Grinberg - Raynham MA, US
Derek Shaw - Raynham MA, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/44
US Classification:
623 1716
Abstract:
The present invention concerns several fusion devices and methods for laterally inserting a fusion device at an initial trajectory that is not parallel to the disc space. Each fusion device incorporates components that enable flexing, bending or pivoting of the device during its final approach to the prepared disc space.

Stand Alone Intervertebral Fusion Device

US Patent:
2012007, Mar 29, 2012
Filed:
Sep 20, 2011
Appl. No.:
13/237233
Inventors:
Thomas Gamache - Raynham MA, US
Joseph Childs - Raynham MA, US
Derek Shaw - Raynham MA, US
Jonathan Howe - Raynham MA, US
Michael Gorhan - Raynham MA, US
Shawn Stad - Raynham MA, US
Kevin Flaherty - Raynham MA, US
International Classification:
A61F 2/44
US Classification:
623 1716
Abstract:
An angled fixation device, such as an angled screw. This angled fixation device may be used by the surgeon to secure a spacer to a spinal disc space. The proximal end portion of the angled fixation device is driven perpendicular to the anterior wall of the spacer, and so is parallel to the vertebral endplates and in-line with the inserter. The distal end portion of the angled fixation device is oriented at about a 45 degree angle (plus or minus 30 degrees) to the vertebral endplate it enters.
