Modular Drain And Drain System

US Patent:
6729795, May 4, 2004
Filed:
Sep 30, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/259650
Inventors:
Donald E. Dahowski - York PA
James G. Wilson - Lancaster PA
Christopher B. Presler - Lancaster PA
Assignee:
Quaker Plastic Corporation - Mountville PA
International Classification:
E01C 1122
US Classification:
404 4, 210164, 521697, 4510, 405 36
Abstract:
A modular drain for receiving drainage liquid with a polygonal upper portion and a lower portion. The upper portion has a substantially lateral surface, a first vertical surface and a second vertical surface that define an upper cavity, the substantially lateral surface having a plurality of openings thereon. The lower portion is joined to the upper portion, the lower portion including a substantially semi-circular surface sized to receive a tube section of a connector therein. In one embodiment, at least one of the first vertical surface and the second vertical surface includes a retention mechanism that is sized and positioned to retain the tube section in the lower portion. In another embodiment, the vertical surfaces are provided with interlocking interfaces.

Drain Tube Sections With Connectors Therefor

US Patent:
2006015, Jul 20, 2006
Filed:
Dec 23, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/316349
Inventors:
Donald Dahowski - York PA, US
James Wilson - Lancaster PA, US
International Classification:
F16L 23/00
US Classification:
285405000
Abstract:
A modular drain system and connector therefor, the drain system including drain tube sections with a body having side walls that extend upwardly, and a connector partially received in each of the drain tube sections to interconnect the drain tube sections together. The connector has a base, and at least one extending flange that extends at least partially upwardly from the base of the connector. The extending flange contacts at least one of the side walls of the drain tube sections at an angle to a vertical axis of the connector to minimize relative movement. The extending flange of one embodiment is biased outwardly against the side walls of the drain tube sections. The extending flange may be implemented as a planar funnel that opens to an access channel.

Fence Post Anchoring System And Method

US Patent:
2007003, Feb 15, 2007
Filed:
Aug 9, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/501225
Inventors:
Kenneth Shertzer - Lebanon PA, US

Assignee:
Quaker Plastic Corporation - Mountville PA
International Classification:
E04H 17/00
US Classification:
256065140
Abstract:
A fence post anchoring system embedded in a deck for providing anchoring holes in the deck includes a plurality of anchor links, and a plurality of post anchors that interconnects ends of the anchor links together, each post anchor having an opening sized to receive a fence post therein. In another embodiment, the fence post anchoring system includes an anchor base with side walls that define a channel, and a post anchor received in the channel, and the post anchor being retained in the channel of the anchor base in an upright position. Methods for providing anchoring holes for fence posts are also provided including pouring concrete to embed components of the fence post anchoring system while forming the deck.

Multiple Accessory Swimming Pool Coping

US Patent:
5107551, Apr 28, 1992
Filed:
Dec 5, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/623225
Inventors:
Donald H. Weir - York PA
Donald E. Dahowski - York PA
Assignee:
Fox Pool Corporation - York PA
International Classification:
E04H 400
E04H 1200
US Classification:
4496
Abstract:
A versatile swimming pool coping having at least three horizontal securing channels which open inward to the pool when the coping is positioned at the top of a swimming pool wall for accommodating a plurality of accessories for the swimming pool. The coping is contoured to provide a smooth transition at the corner formed at the juncture of the top of the vertical wall and the horizontal deck around the swimming pool. In a particular embodiment the coping accommodates the bead, of a one-piece vinyl liner which covers the floor and vertical walls, in the bottom channel, a decorative element such as a decorative or light providing strip in a middle channel, and the bead of an accessory which is relatively frequently installed and removed in an upper channel. Also integrally formed as a part of the coping are means to secure the coping at the top of a swimming pool wall. The successive channels above the liner bead holding channel are set back step-wise.

Method For Covering Openings Contiguous To A Swimming Pool

US Patent:
5560178, Oct 1, 1996
Filed:
Apr 7, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/418816
Inventors:
Donald E. Dahowski - York PA
Paul D. Spies - York PA
Assignee:
Quaker Plastic Corporation - Mountville PA
International Classification:
E04G 2100
US Classification:
527413
Abstract:
A cover devised to be positioned over and to overlay an opening contiguous to a swimming pool such as a stairwell opening. The cover is a preformed modular plastic unit. The cover may comprise a single molded piece or a plurality of pre-molded sections that are secured side-by-side to form a rigid unit. The cover is preferably slightly domed and provided with integrally formed strengthening ribs or channels. The dome shape facilitates flowing of water which may accumulate on the cover surface, to the rear and to the sides of the cover. Suitable means, such as pliable plastic water filled tubes, or other hold down means, function to retain the cover in place when in position, against undesirable dislocation from its covering position. The cover also facilitates the installation of a flexible vinyl liner in a swimming pool by providing means to hold the liner over, and to seal, the opening during the installation of the liner.

Swimming Pool Coping

US Patent:
4457119, Jul 3, 1984
Filed:
Feb 17, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/235224
Inventors:
Donald E. Dahowski - York PA
Assignee:
Fox Pool Corporation - York PA
International Classification:
E04H 316
US Classification:
52300
Abstract:
A flexible easily installed and low maintenance swimming pool coping providing the transitional element between horizontal pool deck and the vertical pool wall. The coping is provided with upper and lower horizontal channels and has a depending bifurcated lower end and is secured at the pool by slipping the bifurcated part over the top of the pool wall. A pool liner bead is accommodated in the lower channel and a decorative protective or functional insert is retained in the upper channel. The coping cross section is formed to permit it to be readily flexed around small radii in either direction for various pool profiles. A yoke with an interlock is provided for insertion at any desired location into the interior of the coping crown to prevent buckling or distortion of the crown. An interlocking leveling element to retain contiguous sections of the coping in alignment is also provided for insertion within the coping.
