Apparatus And Method For Providing Switching At A Telephone Cross-Connect

US Patent:
7203306, Apr 10, 2007
Filed:
Jul 8, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/190654
Inventors:
Douglas Edward Bain - Cincinnati OH, US
David Frederick DiBiase - Warren NJ, US
George Andrew Holz - Basking Ridge NJ, US
Robert Ellis Richton - Madison NJ, US
Assignee:
Loopexpert Technologies, Inc. - Bridgewater NJ
International Classification:
H04M 3/00
H04M 5/00
US Classification:
379306, 379335
Abstract:
A cost-effective technique for inserting a switching module into a line pair of a local telecommunications network is disclosed. In particular, the illustrative embodiment does not replace a punch-down block at a cross-connect, but rather inserts the switching module between the modular connectors that are usually co-located with the punch-down block and that connect the cable pairs to the punch-down block. In other words, the illustrative embodiment provides for a technician to disconnect a pair of modular connectors and to insert a switching module between them, wherein the switching modules inputs and outputs are provided via modular connectors.

Air Heater Corrosion Prevention

US Patent:
4245573, Jan 20, 1981
Filed:
Dec 22, 1978
Appl. No.:
5/972276
Inventors:
Shyam N. S. Dixit - Cincinnati OH
Douglas I. Bain - Cincinnati OH
David A. Carter - Barrington IL
Assignee:
Chemed Corporation - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
F23J 100
US Classification:
110343
Abstract:
An additive, e. g. , MgO. Mg silicate, is injected into the flue gas stream of a coal-or oil-fired furnace, at 2300-1700 deg. F. , thereby reducing accumulation of sulfuric acid on the air heater inlet and outlet.

Fly Ash Collection

US Patent:
4256703, Mar 17, 1981
Filed:
Dec 26, 1979
Appl. No.:
6/107400
Inventors:
Shyam N. S. Dixit - Cincinnati OH
Douglas I. Bain - Cincinnati OH
David A. Carter - Barrington IL
Assignee:
Chemed Corporation - Cincinnati OH
International Classification:
C01G 102
B01D 4500
US Classification:
423 23
Abstract:
To a coal-fired furnace that uses electrostatic precipitation or a mechanical collector to collect fly ash, a mix of magnesia-alumina or magnesia-talc is added above the fireball (2600. degree. -3300. degree. F. ). The additive increases the mean particle size of the fly ash and reduces its surface resistivity, thereby causing improved collection in the electrostatic precipitators or mechanical collector. Fine particulates containing heavy metals tend to be agglomerated; thus the invention permits recovery of substantial amounts of heavy metal contaminants that would otherwise be lost as stack emission.

Vermiculite As A Deposit Modifier In Coal Fired Boilers

US Patent:
4369719, Jan 25, 1983
Filed:
Nov 14, 1980
Appl. No.:

International Classification:
F23J 1100
US Classification:
110345
Abstract:
Uncalcined vermiculite is injected into the coal fired furnace, at 3000. degree. -1200. degree. F. , thereby facilitating removal of deposits that accumulate on line within the furnace.

Pocket-Size Pim Inspector

US Patent:
2016015, Jun 2, 2016
Filed:
Dec 1, 2014
Appl. No.:
14/557047
Inventors:
- Everett WA, US
Randy Fischer - Flowery Branch GA, US
Douglas E. Bain - Braselton GA, US
Assignee:
FLUKE CORPORATION - Everett WA
International Classification:
H04W 24/08
H04B 7/26
Abstract:
A method for detecting passive intermodulation (PIM) using a PIM analyzing device is provided. The PIM analyzing device transmits two signals comprising first and second signals over a signal transmission medium. The PIM analyzing device receives reflected signals associated with the transmitted signals. The PIM analyzing device determines whether the frequencies of the received signals correspond to the calculated PIM signal frequencies.
