Inrush Current Limiting Circuit

US Patent:
2006016, Jul 27, 2006
Filed:
Jan 24, 2005
Appl. No.:
11/042300
Inventors:
Andrei Beletsky - Woodbury MN, US
Douglas Jensen - Woodbury MN, US
Richard Lemberger - Forest Lake MN, US
International Classification:
H02H 3/00
US Classification:
361094000
Abstract:
A current limiting circuit comprises a current limiting element (R) coupled between an input and an output of the current limiting circuit, and a controllable shunt element (M) connected in parallel with the current limiting element. The current limiting circuit further comprises a control circuit () and a time delay circuit (). The control circuit is configured to generate a control signal for application to a control input of the shunt element for controlling the shunt element between at least a first state and a second state responsive to a timing signal. The time delay circuit is configured to generate the timing signal, and is coupled between the input of the current limiting circuit and an input of the control circuit. The time delay circuit generates the timing signal based on a designated time constant and in a manner substantially independent of an amount of current passing through the current limiting element.

Scanner Facet Height Error Compensation Having Selective Pixel Modification

US Patent:
5991008, Nov 23, 1999
Filed:
Sep 30, 1997
Appl. No.:
8/941464
Inventors:
Yun Zhong Li - Woodbury MN
Douglas D. Jensen - Woodbury MN
Richard R. Lemberger - Columbus MN
Assignee:
Imation Corp. - St. Paul MN
International Classification:
G03B 2770
H04N 104
US Classification:
355 66
Abstract:
A method and system for compensating for scanner facet height error in a laser imaging application including a rotating polygon for directing a laser beam across a dimension of a photographic element. The present invention compensates for facet height error by measuring a scan interval for each facet of the rotating polygon and modifies the pixel clock for a subset of pixels of each scan line as a function of variations in scan intervals for the respective facets of the rotating polygon. Several advantages of the present invention have been illustrated including the low cost of such a compensation system and technique. Furthermore, the present invention is not limited in accuracy by the pixel clock as are conventional techniques. Furthermore, the modified pixels are evenly distributed over the entire length of the facet's corresponding scan line.
