Visor Control

US Patent:
4390202, Jun 28, 1983
Filed:
May 26, 1981
Appl. No.:
6/267431
Inventors:
Carl Flowerday - Holland MI
Konrad H. Marcus - Holland MI
Gordon Kempkers - Hamilton MI
Edward T. Boerema - Zeeland MI
Dennis J. Fleming - Holland MI
Assignee:
Prince Corporation - Holland MI
International Classification:
B60J 302
F16C 1700
US Classification:
296 97K
Abstract:
A visor control includes a first member positioned in the body of the visor and engaging one side of a pivot rod also extending within the visor body for moving the visor between stored and use positions. An elastically deformable plate has one end secured to the first member and engages an opposite side of the pivot rod in an elastically deformed position. The rod includes a flat formed in the opposite side for engagement by the deformable plate to provide a torque for returning the visor to a predetermined position and for releasably holding the visor in such position. In one embodiment of the invention, the first member is also an elastically deformable plate which engages flats formed in the one side of the pivot rod. In yet another embodiment of the invention, collar shaped cam members surround the pivot rod and a compression spring urges the cam members together, one of which is anchored to the pivot rod and the other of which is rotationally anchored to the visor body but is free to slide on the visor rod. Each of the cam members includes interengaging inclined surfaces for urging the visor under the spring compression into a predetermined position and releasably hold the visor in such position.

Visor System

US Patent:
4690450, Sep 1, 1987
Filed:
Nov 2, 1984
Appl. No.:
6/667765

Assignee:
Prince Corporation - Holland MI
International Classification:
B60J 302
US Classification:
296 97K
Abstract:
A visor system includes a pair of spaced mounting brackets to support a first visor movable between a raised stored position and a lowered use position and one which can be moved to a side window for providing protection against incident light from the side. The brackets also support an auxiliary visor which is pivoted on an axis located above the vehicle's windshield between a raised, stored position and a lowered, use position and is movable laterally along the axis.

Multiple Visor System With Concentric Pivot Axes

US Patent:
5421632, Jun 6, 1995
Filed:
Oct 13, 1993
Appl. No.:
8/136416
Inventors:

Assignee:
Prince Corporation - Holland MI
International Classification:
B60J 302
US Classification:
296 979
Abstract:
A visor system includes nested coaxial pivot couplings for multiple visor panels which can be substantially flat, planer bodies which are positioned in closely adjacent relationship to one another by the mounting brackets and pivot about a common pivot axis when so nested. In one embodiment, the pivot coupling comprises a semi-cylindrical member with at least one nesting semi-cylindrical or cylindrical pivot rod attached to the visor panels and which coaxially align along a single, longitudinal axis. In other embodiments, a solid pivot rod is employed and is mounted to a visor panel to include an exposed section for snap-receiving a semi-cylindrical pivot socket of another visor panel.

Telephone Mounting System For A Vehicle

US Patent:
5524050, Jun 4, 1996
