US Patent:
7329024, Feb 12, 2008
Filed:
Sep 20, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/945069
Inventors:
Manuel Lynch - Tustin CA, US
Lenny Fraitag - San Diego CA, US
Rehana Wijesinghe - Colombo, LK
Assignee:
Permlight Products, Inc. - Tustin CA
International Classification:
F21V 11/00
US Classification:
362240, 362294, 362394, 257 99
Abstract:
A lighting apparatus is provided including an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) disposed on a base. The base is configured to move heat away from the array of LEDs to other portions of the base and further to the atmosphere or an adjacent housing. In one embodiment, a native oxide on the base electrically insulates the base from the LEDs. In another embodiment, a cover is removably disposed over the array of LEDs, and removal of the cover prevents electrical energization of the LEDs.

Led Luminaire

US Patent:
7582911, Sep 1, 2009
Filed:
Jul 31, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/496341
Inventors:
Manuel Lynch - Tustin CA, US
Leonard Fraitag - San Diego CA, US
Assignee:
Permlight Products, Inc. - Tustin CA
International Classification:
H01L 33/00
US Classification:
257 88, 257E33054, 257E33057, 257E33075, 362612, 362218, 362219, 362249
Abstract:
A modular light emitting diode (LED) mounting configuration is provided including a light source module having a plurality of pre-packaged LEDs arranged in a serial array. The module is connected to a heat dissipating plate configured to mount to an electrical junction box. Thus, heat from the LEDs is conducted to the heat dissipating plate and to the junction box. A sensor is configured to detect environmental parameters and a driver is configured to illuminate the LEDs in response to the environmental parameters, thereby selectively configuring the LEDs to function in a wide variety of useful applications.

Led-Based Luminaire

US Patent:
7918591, Apr 5, 2011
Filed:
May 15, 2006
Appl. No.:
11/434663
Inventors:
Manuel Lynch - Tustin CA, US
Assignee:
Permlight Products, Inc. - Tustin CA
International Classification:
F21V 15/00
US Classification:
362365, 362240, 362800, 36167901, 361807, 361808, 361809, 361810, 361823, 361824, 257 99
Abstract:
An LED-based luminaire includes a driver configured to convert line voltage into a desired power configuration. Elongate fasteners attach one or more LED-based lighting modules to a mount member and also to energized poles of the power driver. The fasteners communicate electrical energy from the power driver to the lighting module. In one embodiment, the mount member functions as a heat sink, and it includes a bumpy surface coating having a texture with sufficient feature heights to enhance heat transfer between the heat sink and the surrounding environment.

Lighting System And Method

US Patent:
2005024, Nov 3, 2005
Filed:
Aug 30, 2004
Appl. No.:
10/929287
Inventors:
Manuel Lynch - Tustin CA, US
International Classification:
H04M001/22
US Classification:
362276000
Abstract:
A lighting system and method is disclosed wherein a sensor module controls a lighting apparatus comprising lamps that emit light having a wavelength within a first range of wavelengths. The sensor module comprises a sensor that is configured to detect light having a wavelength within a second range of wavelengths. The first and second ranges do not overlap one another. Accordingly, the sensor is blind to light from the lighting device. The sensor module controls the illumination of the lighting device in accordance with a predetermined strategy based upon the detection of a threshold intensity of light by the sensor.
