A linear position transducer reliably and wirelessly tracks rapid motion. The transducer includes a scale, a control head, and a wirelessly-powered read head disposed proximate to the scale. The read head is configured to sense movement between the scale and the read head and to wirelessly communicate position data to the control head. The control head can include a wireless data receiver to receive position data from the read head, an output data driver to communicate with an external device, and a microcontroller to coordinate a data transfer between the wireless data receiver and the output data driver. In addition, the read head can include a wireless data transmitter to transmit position data to the control head, a linear position sensor to sense position along the scale, and a microcontroller to calculate a position measurement from the scale. The microcontroller in the read head can also coordinate a data transfer between the wireless data transmitter and the control head. To provide a complete wireless solution, the linear position transducer also includes a power system to wirelessly transfer energy from the control head to the read head.

A rotational alignment device centers a shaft-mounted transducer on a rotating shaft. The alignment device includes a moveable base that is configured to receive the shaft-mounted transducer through a coupling device; a mounting base that connects to the rotating shaft; and a radial alignment assembly which connects the moveable base to the mounting base in a manner whereby the alignment error between the transducer and the rotating shaft can be corrected. The alignment error is corrected by making polar-coordinate type adjustments (i. e. , correcting angular error and radial offset error) rather than traditional X-Y coordinate type adjustments.

A control system for regulating the speed of a truck-mounted material conveyor includes a direct current drive motor and a truck-driven shunt generator for providing power to the motor. A control circuit has a reference input representing desired delivery rates in material weight per unit of distance and a truck speed input. A multiplier circuit converts the inputs to a delivery rate in terms of material weight per unit of time at the current truck road speed. Generator and conveyor speed feedback loops are provided to maintain a desired conveyor speed despite variations in truck engine speed or slippage at the conveyor.

A device for centering a feedback tachometer on an output motor shaft. The device includes a housing disposed on the motor shaft. The housing includes a base and flange in which is received a mandrel shaft. The central axis of the mandrel shaft may be aligned with the central axis of the motor shaft by set screws provided in the flange and are individually adjustable against the mandrel shaft to alter the position thereof within the flange. An adapter plate may be provided for attaching the base to the motor shaft.
