Relaxation Device

US Patent:
6368293, Apr 9, 2002
Filed:
Dec 23, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/471968
Inventors:
Eric P. Orgeron - River Ridge LA, 70123
Philip J. Delatte - Metairie LA, 70001
International Classification:
A61H 100
US Classification:
601 15
Abstract:
Apparatus ( ) for facilitating relaxing includes a helmet ( ) made of a soft material, a vibration source ( ) in the helmet, and a relatively hard transmission network ( ) for transmitting vibration from the vibration source throughout the helmet. Preferably, there is a power source ( ) remote from the helmet for powering the vibration source ( ) in the helmet ( ) so that the user is not exposed to EMF from the power source ( ). This can be accomplished by having a flexible shaft ( ), with one end of the shaft ( ) at the power source and the other end terminating in the vibration source ( ) in the helmet ( ). Preferably, there are handles ( ) on the helmet ( ) to allow a facilitator to help a user use the apparatus ( ) by holding onto the handles ( ) while vibration occurs. An optional auxiliary pressure source ( ) can be used by the facilitator or by an additional facilitator to apply more pressure during vibration. Adjustment slits ( ) allow fine tuning of the shape of the helmet.
