Filed:
Sep 29, 1999
Appl. No.:
09/408818
Inventors:
Robert Adler - Northbrook IL
Arie Ravid - Newark CA
Geoffrey D. Wilson - Oxnard CA
Assignee:
Elo Touchsystems, Inc. - Fremont CA
International Classification:
G09G 500
US Classification:
345177, 345173, 345176
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for adapting an acoustic touchscreen controller to the operating frequency requirements of a specific touchscreen are provided. The adaptive controller can either utilize look-up tables to achieve the desired output frequency or the it can use a multi-step process in which it first determines the frequency requirements of the touchscreen, and then adjusts the burst frequency characteristics, the receiver circuit center frequency, or both in accordance with the touchscreen requirements. In one embodiment, the adaptive controller compensates for global frequency mismatch errors. In this embodiment a digital multiplier is used to modify the output of a crystal reference oscillator. The reference oscillator output is used to control the frequency of the signal from the receiving transducers and/or to generate the desired frequency of the tone burst sent to the transmitting transducers. In another embodiment that is intended to compensate for both global and local frequency variations, the adaptive controller uses a digital signal processor.

US Patent:
7081358, Jul 25, 2006
Filed:
Aug 16, 2002
Appl. No.:
10/223074
Inventors:
Daniel Heiter - Groveland MA, US
Keith Lunnen - Essex MA, US
Geoffrey G. Wilson - Boxford MA, US
Assignee:
New England Biolabs, Inc. - Ipswich MA
International Classification:
C12N 15/55
C12N 9/22
US Classification:
435199, 4352523
Abstract:
Methods are provided for converting into a sequence specific strand specific and location specific DNA nicking endonuclease, a restriction endonuclease that recognizes an asymmetric DNA sequence, the endonuclease having two catalytic sites and one or more single sequence specific DNA-binding domains. In one embodiment the method requires inactivating one of the catalytic sites of the restriction endonuclease. In another embodiment, the restriction endonuclease is a dimer having a first and second subunit each comprising a sequence specific DNA binding domain, a catalytic site and a dimerization domain. The nicking endonuclease is formed from combining one subunit having an inactivated catalytic site and a second subunit having an inactivated DNA binding domain. The nicking endonuclease may be converted into a restriction endonuclease by the addition of manganese cations in the digestion buffer.
