Ship-Board System For Decontaminating Wastewater Contaminated By Firefighting Operations

US Patent:
6616833, Sep 9, 2003
Filed:
Apr 18, 2001
Appl. No.:
09/836922
Inventors:
Gerard Lynch - Bridgewater NJ, 08807
International Classification:
B01D 100
US Classification:
210 961, 2101951, 210241, 210254, 2102571, 210259, 210266, 210284
Abstract:
A water pollution remediation system includes a plurality of decontamination modules that are self supporting and interconnectable for sequentially removing a plurality of different contaminants. The modules are designed to be independently transportable to a ship for decontaminating bilge water, in particular, after a fire when a foaming fire suppressant composition has been introduced into the bilge water. The modules may be placed on the deck of the ship, connected together and powered by the ships hydraulic, electric and bilge pumping systems to provide comprehensive decontamination.

Adaptive Hydrokinetic Energy Harvesting System

US Patent:
2012023, Sep 13, 2012
Filed:
Mar 6, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/412709
Inventors:
Gerard J. Lynch - Bridgewater NJ, US
International Classification:
F03B 13/10
H02N 2/18
F21L 13/00
H02P 9/04
US Classification:
362183, 290 54, 290 50, 290 43, 290 52, 310339
Abstract:
An adaptive system for harvesting hydrokinetic energy from flowing fluid uses a hydrofoil-type vane in a flow-way and an electrical power generator to convert torque generated by the oscillating vane to electrical current. The generator may be electromagnetic or piezoelectric. The system includes a control module that measures the oscillation of the vane, the generated torque, or the characteristics of the generated current, and modifies the resistance of the vane or the conversion of the electrical current in response to changes therein. Some systems include a frame that can be anchored in a body of water. Some systems are portable and provide illumination. Some systems are adapted for use as hiking or camping gear and may be inserted into stream beds or used as walking sticks. Some systems are in-line devices. Some systems are adapted as fishing lures.

Fluid Filter With Enhanced Backflush Flow

US Patent:
5587074, Dec 24, 1996
Filed:
Feb 17, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/390134
Inventors:
Gerard J. Lynch - Bridgewater NJ
Joseph Quinn - Kearny NJ
Assignee:
H-Tech, Inc. - DE
International Classification:
B01D 2968
US Classification:
210411
Abstract:
A backflush conduit for an automatic back flushing filter having an inlet portion with a symmetrical converging bell-shaped cross-section, an outlet portion with a generally cylindrical shape, and a converging and reorienting transition portion connecting the inlet and outlet portions. Converging convex surfaces of the bell shaped opening smooth fluid inflow and prevent fulid separation. The transition portion interior contour redirects the fluid flow without inducing turbulence, resulting in more efficient backflushing to clean the entire filter element even at small element pore sizes.

Particulate Collection Device

US Patent:
2021025, Aug 26, 2021
Filed:
Feb 20, 2020
Appl. No.:
16/795848
Inventors:
GERARD LYNCH - MIDDLESEX NJ, US
International Classification:
A47J 31/06
Abstract:
A particulate collection device designed to fit commercial reusable coffee pods and/or capsules , which include: a coffee grind collection housing having at least one sidewall forming an enclosure for communicating with drainage apertures at the bottom thereof, and a coffee grind collection housing lid having a reusable coffee pod filter receptacle and a water drainage channel

Particulate Collection Device

US Patent:
2017005, Mar 2, 2017
Filed:
Aug 25, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/834622
Inventors:
Gerard John LYNCH - Middlesex NJ, US
International Classification:
A47J 31/44
B01D 35/30
B01D 35/02
Abstract:
A particulate collection system for collecting and disposing of the contents of a reusable filters is provided. The particulate collection system may embody particulate collection device facilitating the flow of a wash fluid through the reusable filter, carrying along its particulate contents, and into an enclosure, wherein the particulates may captured within the enclosure, while the wash fluid is discharges there from. The particulate collection device may include a filter seat and a particulate filter-collector removably attachable in a sealing engagement. The particulate filter-collector forms the enclosure housing a filter or a filter mesh. The filter seat forms a rinse chamber for the reusable filter to be submerged by wash fluid, wherein the rinse chamber and circumscribing portions thereof may be in fluid communication with the enclosure.
