Techniques are disclosed for detecting a vibration of a target object using light signals and an external reference signal. In one example, a sensor detects a first signal having a first plurality of frequencies. An array of light amplitude detectors receives respective light signals from regions of the target object and generates outputs representing the received light signals. A plurality of filters receives an output of a respective light amplitude detector and generates, from the output and based on the first plurality of frequencies, filtered signals. The filtered signals relate to a vibration of the target object, and a frequency of the vibration of the region of the target object is within a frequency band defined by at least one frequency of the first plurality of frequencies. Processing circuitry processes the filtered signals to generate an output representation of the vibration of the target object.
