Methods And Systems For Analyzing Combustion System Operation

US Patent:
2012012, May 17, 2012
Filed:
Nov 16, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/947052
Inventors:
Guang Xu - Santa Ana CA, US
David Moyeda - Santa Ana CA, US
Neil Widmer - Santa Ana CA, US
Wei Zhou - Santa Ana CA, US
Assignee:
GENERAL ELECTRIC COMPANY - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
F23N 5/00
G06F 19/00
G01N 33/00
US Classification:
431 2, 431 76, 73 2331, 702 24
Abstract:
Systems and methods for analyzing combustion system operation are provided. According to one embodiment, a method can include receiving multiple CO measurements from respective CO sensors distributed within a combustion system; receiving multiple Omeasurements from respective Osensors distributed within the combustion system; and determining at least one operating condition of the combustion system based at least in part on CO indicated by the CO measurements relative to Oindicated by the Omeasurements.

Zonal Mapping For Combustion Optimization

US Patent:
2011030, Dec 15, 2011
Filed:
Jun 9, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/796765
Inventors:
Guang Xu - Irvine CA, US
Neil Colin Widmer - San Clemente CA, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
F02C 3/00
F23N 5/00
US Classification:
60 3901, 110348, 110186
Abstract:
A method of optimizing operation of a furnace to control emission within a system. Each furnace zone inside of the furnace is associated with at least one exhaust zone. A signal indicative of an amount of byproduct exiting the furnace through at least one of the exhaust zones is received from one or more of the sensors. Based on this signal, an offending furnace zone is identified from among the plurality of furnace zones, the offending furnace zone including an oxygen level contributing to the amount of the byproduct. A relative adjustment of at least one of an amount of oxygen being introduced into the offending furnace zone, and an angular orientation of an oxygen injector introducing oxygen into the offending furnace zone relative to a focal region within the furnace can be initiated. The furnace may have structure to perform the method and may be part of a system.

System And Method For Combustion Tuning

US Patent:
2016009, Mar 31, 2016
Filed:
Sep 24, 2015
Appl. No.:
14/863946
Inventors:
- Schenectady NY, US
Lihan HE - ShangHai, CN
Zhilin WU - ShangHai, CN
Yao CHEN - ShangHai, CN
Wei ZHOU - Irvine CA, US
Guang XU - Irvine CA, US
David Kelly MOYEDA - Irvine CA, US
International Classification:
F23N 5/00
G05B 13/04
F22B 35/00
Abstract:
A method for combustion tuning, comprises collecting exhaust parameters indicating combustion status of a boiler by a sensor array; determining whether the exhaust parameters of the boiler match a preset optimization target; and optimizing combustion, if the exhaust parameters do not match the preset optimization target by selecting a model from a model repository based on a current boiler condition, wherein the model corresponds to a relationship between model input variables and the exhaust parameters; determining at least one optimized model input variable of the boiler for realizing the optimization target, based on the selected model; and adjusting actuators of the boiler according to the optimized model input variable.
