Abstract:
Provided is an amplifier circuit and method of using the same that features an adjustable resistor network to enable varying the operational characteristics of an amplifier. The resistor network includes primary resistors connected in series with a plurality of adjustment resistors connected to the output of an operational amplifier. A switching network is connected between the resistor network and the input of the operational amplifier. The switching network enables selectively varying the input and feedback resistance of the amplifier circuit to obtain a desired differential gain, while minimizing common-mode gain.

A circuit for generating a voltage is disclosed. The voltage has an amplitude greater than an available power supply. The circuit includes a driver to supply the voltage on an output terminal to an electrode of a touch sense array. The circuit also includes a charge pump array coupled to the driver. The charge pump array includes an array of charge pumps to supply an input voltage to the driver. The circuit also includes a feedback circuit coupled to the charge pump array. The feedback circuit is configured to measure the input voltage and to select different combinations of the array of charge pumps to maintain the voltage on the output terminal.

Abstract:
In a circuit cell of a type which transfers packets of charge through the circuit that are proportional to the magnitude of periodic samples of a signal, a technique for maximizing the circuit cell's input impedance, and particularly to minimize its effective input capacitance, by providing a supplemental source to charge its input capacitor to a level that approximates that which a current sample of the input voltage would cause it to reach. This minimizes the amount of input current drawn by the circuit to charge its input capacitor, the input current during one signal sample generally being only an amount required to increase or decrease the charge level of the prior sample which is provided by the supplemental charge source. Thus, the input capacitor may be made large enough to provide a desired signal-to-noise level and sufficient accuracy, while still providing a high impedance input characteristic. In one embodiment, the supplemental charge comes from an output of the circuit.

Abstract:
A preamplifer for use with a magneto-resistive playback head in which a d. c. current source provides current through a field effect transistor and the magneto-resistive element to ground. An operational transconductance amplifier included in a feedback loop provides a bias voltage for the field-effect transistor, whereby the voltage across the said magneto-resistive element is held constant while the resistance of said element changes. The resulting a. c. current flowing through the magneto-resistive element flows only through the feedback loop and an output resistor connected across the inputs of the operational transconductance amplifier. The amplification of the circuit is approximately the resistance of the output resistor divided by the resistance of the magneto-resistive element.
