Functionalized Nanoparticles And Their Use In Particle/Bulk Material Systems

US Patent:
7758961, Jul 20, 2010
Filed:
Feb 28, 2008
Appl. No.:
12/039036
Inventors:
Jamie N. Jones - Evanston IL, US
F. Brent Neal - Asheville NC, US
Hao Zhou - Boiling Springs SC, US
Philip Wilson - Duncan SC, US
Assignee:
Milliken & Company - Spartanburg SC
International Classification:
B32B 5/16
US Classification:
428403, 428323, 428331, 428407
Abstract:
A process for creating readily or highly dispersible nanoparticles on which chemically reactive functional groups or ligands have been placed. An ultra-high shear fluidic processor is used to change the size distribution of nanoparticle agglomerations and facilitate the formation of stable dispersions of such nanoparticles, as well as the placement of various chemically reactive functional groups or ligands on exposed surface areas of such nanoparticles. Such functionalized nanoparticle agglomerations have a broader size distribution (with a substantial increase in the proportion of smaller agglomerations), can exhibit enhanced dispersion characteristics and, when dispersed in various bulk materials, can impart to such bulk materials the desirable physical or chemical properties associated with the selected chemically active functional groups that have been attached to the surface areas of such agglomerations.

Abstract:
A system that enables network authorization status to be conveyed to the device requesting network services within or outside the scope of an authentication exchange is provided. The authorization status notification or information can be automatically generated or otherwise triggered by a request from the user or device. For instance, a query can be employed to solicit device authorization status related to a particular service or group of services. Additionally, authorization status notification can be automatically triggered based upon a change in the device authorization state.

Engines In System Simultaneously Receiving Gps And Glonass Signals

US Patent:
8405546, Mar 26, 2013
Filed:
Apr 5, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/754569
Inventors:
Wen-Chang Yeh - Hsinchu County, TW
Hao Zhou - Mountain View CA, US
Qinfang Sun - Cupertino CA, US
Assignee:
QUALCOMM Incorporated - San Diego CA
International Classification:
G01S 19/33
US Classification:
34235773
Abstract:
A receiver for receiving both GPS signals and GLONASS signals is provided. This receiver includes an analog front end (AFE), a GPS digital front end (DFE) and a GLONASS DFE for receiving an output of the AFE, and a dual mode interface (DMI) for receiving outputs of the GPS and GLONASS DFEs. Search engines are provided for receiving outputs of the DMI. Notably, certain front-end components of the AFE are configured to process both the GPS signals and the GLONASS signals.

System And Method For Provisioning And Authenticating Via A Network

US Patent:
2005012, Jun 2, 2005
Filed:
Dec 1, 2003
Appl. No.:
10/724995
Inventors:
Nancy Winget - Mountain View CA, US
Hao Zhou - Solon OH, US
Mark Krischer - Lane Cove, AU
Joseph Salowey - Seattle WA, US
Jeremy Stieglitz - Menlo Park CA, US
Saar Gillai - Mountain View CA, US
Padmanabha Jakkahalli - Sunnyvale CA, US
Assignee:
Cisco Technology, Inc. - San Jose CA
International Classification:
H04L009/00
US Classification:
713171000
Abstract:
System architecture and corresponding method for securing communication via a network (e.g. IEEE 802.11) is provided. In accordance with one embodiment, the present system and method protocol, may be suitably configured to achieve mutual authentication by using a shared secret to establish a tunnel used to protect weaker authentication methods (e.g. user names and passwords). The shared secret, referred to in this embodiment as the protected access credential may be advantageously used to mutually authenticate a server and a peer upon securing a tunnel for communication via a network. The present system and method disclosed and claimed herein, in one aspect thereof, comprises the steps of 1) providing a communication implementation between a first and a second party; 2) provisioning a secure credential between the first and the second party; and 3) establishing a secure tunnel between the first and the second party using the secure credential.

Glonass Bit Boundary Detection

US Patent:
2012005, Mar 1, 2012
Filed:
Aug 27, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/870533
Inventors:
Hao-Ren Cheng - Yuanli Township, TW
Qinfang Sun - Cupertino CA, US
Hao Zhou - Mountain View CA, US
Gaspar Lee - Bade City, TW
International Classification:
G01S 19/42
US Classification:
34235725
Abstract:
A method of determining a bit boundary of a GLONASS string is provided. In this method, a global position receiver can remove the meander sequence from bits of a GLONASS signal. After removing the meander sequence, time averages of bit energies for 20 possible (consecutive) bit boundary positions can be computed. At this point, the receiver can select a position from the 20 possible bit boundary positions that maximizes bit energy. A maximum accumulated value at this position as well as offset accumulated values at 5 ms and 15 ms offset from the position can be determined. Then, the receiver can determine whether a ratio of at least one of the offset accumulated values to the maximum accumulated value meets a predetermined condition. When the ratio meets the predetermined condition, the receiver can output the position as the bit boundary of the GLONASS string.

Multi-Stage Glonass/Gps Automatic Frequency Control

US Patent:
2012007, Mar 29, 2012
Filed:
Sep 29, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/894067
Inventors:
Hao Zhou - Mountain View CA, US
Qinfang Sun - Cupertino CA, US
International Classification:
G01S 19/21
US Classification:
34235759
Abstract:
A method of providing automatic frequency control pull-in for efficient receipt of GLONASS bits is described. This method can include first determining whether a channel noise (CNo) is greater than or equal to a predetermined value. When the CNo is greater than or equal to the predetermined value, the pull-in can be performed using a first series of predetection integration periods (PDIs) with activated decision-directed flips (DDFs) until a 20 ms boundary of a GLONASS data bit is found. When the CNo is less than the predetermined value, the pull-in can be performed using a second series of PDIs with always deactivated DDFs. A similar method of providing automatic frequency control pull-in for efficient receipt of GPS bits is also described.
