Radiology Instrument

US Patent:
6315446, Nov 13, 2001
Filed:
Aug 9, 1999
Appl. No.:
9/370314
Inventors:
Harold James Kidd - Waukesha WI
Bernard Callier - Voisins-le-Bretonneux, FR
Assignee:
GE Medical Systems S.A.
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
H05G 102
US Classification:
378197
Abstract:
Radiology instrument comprising an X-ray tube linked with a plane detector. A support device comprises a pedestal of overall L-shape resting on the floor, with a substantially horizontal base, a substantially vertical post and an axis of rotation passing through one end of the base, the post being fixed to the other end of the base and being parallel to the axis, a bracket which is fixed to the top of the post and can rotate about a horizontal axis, and a C-shaped arm which is mounted on the bracket and is capable of rotating about an axis substantially perpendicular to the horizontal axis by sliding on bracket, the tube and the detector being mounted on bow and facing one another, the axis of the bracket the axis of the arm being secant at a point in space referred to as the isocenter. The instrument comprises a means for moving the isocenter continuously along a longitudinal axis of a patient held static.

Electrophysiology Table

US Patent:
5590429, Jan 7, 1997
Filed:
Sep 13, 1995
Appl. No.:
8/527986
Inventors:
Jonathan C. Boomgaarden - Waukesha WI
Harold J. Kidd - Waukesha WI
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Milwaukee WI
International Classification:
A61G 1300
US Classification:
5600
Abstract:
An electrophysiology table includes a dual section table top comprising a pair of elongated planar sections in superimposed planar to planar relationship. One of the table top sections is adapted to be manually moveable axially horizontally over the other section, the other section is electric motor powered for axial horizontal motion to advance the dual section table top to a new position where the manual moveable section is optimized. The table is also adapted to be vertically adjusted as well as to be tilted or angulated. With the two sections locked, the motorized section may move the table along the tilt slope.

X-Ray Positioner For Multi-Axis Profiling

US Patent:
4987585, Jan 22, 1991
Filed:
Jul 25, 1990
Appl. No.:
7/560500
Inventors:
Harold J. Kidd - Waukesha WI
Paul R. Anderson - Milwaukee WI
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Milwaukee WI
International Classification:
H05G 102
US Classification:
378197
Abstract:
A multi-axis profiling x-ray machine for making angiographic examinations includes an L arm rotatable about a first machine axis intersecting an isocenter, the L arm defining a second machine axis intersecting the isocenter and perpendicular to the first machine axis. An offset arm is rotatable about the second machine axis, and includes a curved guide collar holding C arm. The C arm slides along the collar to move an x-ray source mounted on one end of the C arm and an image receiver mounted on the other end of the C arm about a third machine axis perpendicular to the second machine axis. The three axes permit isocenter profiling motion about an arbitrary angle in three dimensions.

X-Ray Cardiovascular Examination Apparatus

US Patent:
4024403, May 17, 1977
Filed:
Mar 19, 1976
Appl. No.:
5/668618
Inventors:
Stanley Bernstein - Whitefish Bay WI
Philip J. Griswa - Waukesha WI
Paul Halter - Brookfield WI
Harold J. Kidd - Waukesha WI
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
A61B 604
G01N 2134
G01N 2304
G21K 506
US Classification:
250445R
Abstract:
An X-ray source is mounted in an enclosure for angulating longitudinally about a horizontal axis. An X-ray permeable patient supporting table is mounted on the top of the enclosure for executing lateral and longitudinal movements. An X-ray image receiving device such as an X-ray image intensifier is mounted above the table on a vertically movable arm which is on a longitudinally movable carriage. Electric control means are provided for angulating the X-ray source and image intensifier synchronously as the image intensifier system is shifted longitudinally or vertically such that the central ray from the X-ray source is kept perpendicular to the image input plane of the image intensifier.
