Wireless Sensor Reader

US Patent:
8154389, Apr 10, 2012
Filed:
Apr 7, 2009
Appl. No.:
12/419326
Inventors:
Harry D. Rowland - East Peoria IL, US
Roger Dwight Watkins - Dunlap IL, US
Balamurugan Sundaram - Peoria IL, US
Assignee:
Endotronix, Inc. - Peoria IL
International Classification:
H04Q 5/22
US Classification:
340 132, 340 101, 340 103, 340 104, 340 1325
Abstract:
A wireless sensor reader is provided to interface with a wireless sensor. The wireless sensor reader transmits an excitation pulse to cause the wireless sensor to generate a ring signal. The wireless sensor reader receives and amplifies the ring signal and sends the signal to a phase-locked loop. A voltage-controlled oscillator in the phase-locked loop locks onto the ring signal frequency and generates a count signal at a frequency related to the ring signal frequency. The voltage-controlled oscillator is placed into a hold mode where the control voltage is maintained constant to allow the count signal frequency to be determined.

Wireless Sensor Reader

US Patent:
8493187, Jul 23, 2013
Filed:
Mar 19, 2010
Appl. No.:
12/727306
Inventors:
Harry D. Rowland - East Peoria IL, US
Roger Dwight Walking - Dunlap IL, US
Balamurugan Sundaram - Peoria IL, US
Bryan Paul - Peoria IL, US
In Soo Ahn - Peoria IL, US
Michael Nagy - Lawrenceville GA, US
Assignee:
Endotronix, Inc. - East Peoria IL
International Classification:
H04Q 5/22
US Classification:
340 1325, 340 101, 340 103, 340 104
Abstract:
A wireless sensor reader is provided to interface with a wireless sensor. The wireless sensor reader transmits a narrowband, fixed frequency excitation pulse to cause the wireless sensor to generate a ring signal. The ring signal corresponds to the value of the physical parameter being sensed. The low power, simple circuitry required to generate the excitation pulse allows the reader to be a small, battery operated unit. Alternative methods of frequency determination are also disclosed.

Wireless Sensor Reader

US Patent:
8570186, Oct 29, 2013
Filed:
Apr 25, 2012
Appl. No.:
13/455776
Inventors:
Michael Nagy - Lawrenceville GA, US
Harry D. Rowland - Plainfield IL, US
Roger Dwight Watkins - Dunlap IL, US
Balamurugan Sundaram - Dunlap IL, US
Assignee:
Endotronix, Inc. - East Peoria IL
International Classification:
H04Q 5/22
US Classification:
34087002, 340 101, 340 103, 340 104, 340 132, 340 1325
The reader uses an ambient reading or other information to select a subset of the possible ring signal frequencies, and tunes or adjusts its circuits and algorithms to focus on that subset.
