A bathtub, and in particular, a whirlpool bathtub or spa, is provided with an upwardly extending surrounding wall portion or surrounding collar at the sitting end of the tub. The collar is preferably formed of plastic as an integral unit with the plastic bathtub wall, and has a plurality of apertures formed therein for the mounting of speakers therein. The speakers, once mounted within the apertures, surround the sitting area of the bathtub. The speaker apertures are placed above the overflow of the bathtub. The speaker apertures are sealed at the rear by a baffle plate, to form one or more acoustic chambers. Overlying the speaker apertures is an open grillwork. The speakers are connected to a sound producing system, such as a radio, tape deck or cassette. The sitting area is thus surrounded by rearwardly enclosed multiple speakers, mounted above the waterline, the speakers being integrated into an upward extension of a bathtub wall by means of the integrally formed speaker apertures. The speakers are further protected by grillwork and drainage channels to minimize contact with water.

A fluid atomizer or "air mist" nozzle or valve of this invention has an elongated nozzle body provided with a frontal exit port, a needle valve coaxially moveable therein and normally biased against a spring means so that its outlet end is just upstream of the nozzle exit port. The nozzle body is connected to a source of both water and air, as in the prior art. In this invention, the needle valve outlet position is controlled, vis-a-vis the nozzle body exit port, from the front of the fluid nozzle by providing a frontal control means for moving the nozzle body with respect to a fixed-in-place needle valve. The frontal control means is provided with both a rotatable and an axial motion and comprises preferably a control knob or ring threadably engaging the nozzle body near the frontal end thereof. The control knob is, in turn, mounted within a fixed flange plate, having a rearwardly extending cylindrical bore, for slideable axial movement within said cylindrical bore.

The invention is directed to a novel form of recessed cavity and cover therefor, for use with bathtubs and the like, especially whirlpool baths, and in particular, for use as an overflow recessing device or means. In the prior art, overflow devices have projected from the bathtub wall. Such overflow devices thus present an obstruction and danger to a bathtub user. The invention herein recesses the overflow device behind the plane of the bathtub wall, and the recess is provided with a complementary cover so that the recess in the wall, in effect, can be made flush with the wall of the tub. The recess cover is pivotally connected to the bathtub recess opening. The covered recess is provided with a secondary drain means so that any water entering the covered recess will readily drain therefrom.
